Carlos in Max (2015)

Goofs

Max

Edit

Continuity

The three protagonists' clothing is stone dry after crossing/swimming the creek.
When Justin and company go to rescue his father on bikes, it switches from night to day in too short a time.

Factual errors

At the end of the movie, the flag in the window shows a blue star. Since the son died while in service, it should be a gold star. Blue star flags are for families of live service members while gold star flags are for families of service members that died.
When on patrol in Afghanistan, Kyle's troops are under-equipped, not carrying water bottles or additional belt pouches and are too close together on patrol. There would be greater separation of soldiers because of the danger of an IED or enemy fire taking out many soldiers at once if they aren't separated farther apart.
In the descriptive audio track, Max is initially described as a German Shepherd. He is subsequently identified in dialogue by Carmen correctly as a Belgian Malinois.
Is it the beginning of the picture, when Kyle and Max are in the Kandahar region of Afghanistan, it states that the local people are speaking Arabic. This would be very unlikely in that region of Afghanistan. The people are most likely speaking Pashto, or possibly Dari.
It is a myth that a person has to be missing for 24 or 48 hours for the police to investigate it.

Errors in geography

Lufkin, Texas in July has a temperature that ranges from 90° to 99° Fahrenheit with intense humidity. Wearing light jackets and fuzzy hats while riding bikes through the woods would be very uncomfortable there, but suitable in North Carolina where the movie was filmed.
Set in Texas, but during the 4th of July parade, the firetrucks are label as Rockwell Rural and Faith, betraying the names of the North Carolina communities where the movie was filmed. The shop windows in the background of the parade also have the Faith name.
There are no mountains, majestic high rocky cliffs, or fast-flowing clear-water rivers in or near Angelina County, Texas. Notably, rivers in this area tend to be muddy, and only flow quickly after a major rain.

Plot holes

Character error

In the parade, Tyler Harne has dog tags outside of his shirt. This is incorrect they should be under his shirt with the chain just visible on the back of his neck. This is a safety thing that he would have learned early on. They are not meant to be visible but for body identification only.
Kyle's father is a trained Marine, yet he fails to access and use the full truck of weapons and ammunition at his disposal. He could have held off a small army with what was in the back of the truck.
