"The Swamp Murders" was the tabloid press's designation of three murders committed by Hans Marmbo in Stockholm in the fall of 1966. Marmbo, who was burglary and alcoholic, first murdered his accomplice Per Erik Hallsén after a failed burglary, then sex buyer Nils Erik Stenbäck and finally the prostitute Siv Gryting. The esteemed orphanage director Vilhelmine Møller confessed in 1893 to having murdered Volmer Sjøgren (born 1878), a boy at the Kana Orphanage in Østerbro, of which she was the director, in order to hide the fact that she had a sexual relationship with him.
