When asked why Shen Gongbao is portrayed as a stutterer, Director Yu Yang explains: "He is deeply affected by the discrimination from his master and fellow disciples. Feeling frustrated and lacking confidence, he essentially becomes a stutterer."
This film marks Yu Yang (aka Jiaozi)'s second animated feature as director. On February 15, 2025, he officially becomes the highest-grossing director in Chinese film history, thanks to the combined box office success of his two "Ne Zha" animations.
