Rock Lee & His Ninja Pals was a show that took a more non-canonical comedic approach to the world of Naruto. Treated as a side story with little consequences on the epic battles and emotions of the main series, Rock Lee & His Ninja Pals was able to deliver some of the most brilliant gut-busting moments in the Naruto IP.
Something similar could be in the cards for the Avatar-verse, which is set to expand as Paramount pours more money into the newly established Avatar Studios, in a bid to turn the IP into something akin to Star Wars or Wizarding World. However, two characters that could have their own comedic adventures in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender have already had an iteration of that in the main story, and there are no better candidates to base such a show on.

The upcoming animated Avatar movie just got a major release update. Collider’s Britta DeVore is attending CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where Paramount kicked off its official panel by announcing that the animated film, which was previously titled Aang: The Last Airbender, has been relabeled as The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender. It is currently set for release on January 30, 2026, and is set several years after the original series, following Team Aang as young adults working to secure peace now that the war with the Fire Nation is over. It was announced not long ago that Steven Yeun had joined the cast, which comes after he voiced the first Avatar, Wan, in The Legend of Korra. Dave Bautista is also attached to star in a villain role in the film, with Dante Basco reprising his role as Zuko.

Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation needed to do a lot of legwork to get favor with his father again. The prince was disgraced and sent into exile, with the impossible task of capturing the Avatar with no sort of backup except for his Uncle Iroh and a small contingency of soldiers.
However, the character did become important to the Fire Nation again after he essentially toppled the old regime and took over as the new Fire Lord. This brought the colonial era to an end in the history of the Fire Nation, which would allow the healing of the world to begin.

The overall Avatar: The Last Airbenderfranchise is about to enter its third major era in Avatar: Seven Havens, taking place after a serious time skip after the events of The Legend of Korra. For the moment, fans have many pressing questions, such as what could have possibly wrecked the world and driven humanity into those seven safe havens, and whether Avatar Korra is to blame for it all. Another burning question is, aside from bending the four elements, whether the next Avatar will live up to expectations.
The Avatar was always more than a powerful bender with access to fire, air, water, and earth. For millennia, the Avatar Cycle has been about who the Avatar is, and not just their bending strength and their deeds on the battlefield. It takes a special kind of person to be the Avatar, and fans can point to examples from earlier in the cycle.

Fire. Air. Water. Earth. Long ago, a television series won over the hearts of audiences across the globe. A world where elements could be bent, spirits could cross over, and hodgepodges of animals roamed free. In this world, one such bender bridged the spirit world to the material while wielding each of nature’s elements: The Avatar.
From Avatar: The Last Airbender to Avatar: Legend of Korra, fans were treated to adventures that explored the depths of its characters and expanded on the world-building. Just as Aang set out to restore harmony and Korra endured subsequent threats to the world’s natural state, the new avatar must find their direction.
Announced on February 20, 2025, Nickelodeon's Avatar: Seven Havens left fans with several questions about its premise. In a post-apocalyptic world, the new Avatar must contend with legions of upset spirits and humans on her journey to destiny. The world blames the Avatar for the disarray.

Unfortunately for fans of the iconic Avatar: The Legend of Korra, the series may be losing one of its biggest homes soon, and this could open the floodgates for its predecessor to leave as well. While the possibility of this happening has been known for quite some time, it is finally in full effect and is now happening.
As reported by What's On Netflix, the premiere source to keep track of everything on and leaving Netflix, The Legend of Korra is set to leave Netflix on April 16, 2025, just 5 years after it was made available on the platform. While this is primarily in effect in the United States, the series' availability internationally is unknown, it is possible that everyone will be unable to watch the series after April 15. Avatar: Seven Havens is shaping up to be a notable entry into the franchise, but that might not be a good thing. A little turbulence is par for the course when crafting a sequel, but it seems a legacy problem is in the works — and the series hasn't even been released yet. It's anyone's guess whether the production team will knock it out of the park like they did for the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series.
But, going off of The Legend of Korra's mixed reception, it's likely the newest entry is bound for controversy due to several key choices. The problem with Avatar: Seven Havens isn't necessarily about how it will be received, but why. Atla established itself as a groundbreaking anime back in 2005, and The Legend of Korra expanded the setting with surprising success. Now, the legacy of the Avatar is up for grabs as the...

Avatar: The Last Airbender has often been praised as one of the greatest animated shows of all time. While the original series ended in 2008, the franchise has kept going, with films, spinoffs, and books based on the original show. There's more in store for the franchise as well, like a new animated film and more seasons of the Netflix remake. As part of Avatar: The Last Airbender's 20th anniversary celebration, Nickelodeon also just announced a new series following a new Avatar, titled Avatar: Seven Havens. Although Nickelodeon revealed very little about the show, fans have done some searching and uncovered some key details.
The New Avatar Will Face Human Opposition

Avatar: The Last Airbender's newest sequel, Avatar: Seven Havens, is ramping up to be a game-changer in the Avatar franchise. Not only is the world now on the brink of ruin, but the Avatar is wanted by humans and spirits alike as "Humanity's Destroyer." The continuation is set up to change everything we know about the Avatar's role and even the Avatar Cycle itself with how The Legend of Korra ended things.
The Avatar is supposed to bring balance to the world, but whatever happened between Korra's life and the present series has fundamentally changed the Avatar's role. No longer is the Avatar a hero, but someone who brought catastrophe to the four kingdoms and even the spirit world. With the state of things, the next Avatar will have the hands full, especially with only Avatar Korra to guide them.

Avatar: Seven Havens promises to expand the Avatar universe with a bold, high-stakes narrative rooted in its core themes — balance, unity, and self-discovery. In a world shattered by catastrophe, Avatar Pavi faces an unprecedented challenge: she is feared, not revered. The journey ahead won’t just test her mastery of the elements but also force her to redefine what it means to be the Avatar in an era where faith in that role has crumbled.
With so much mystery surrounding Avatar: Seven Havens, fan theories are running wild, and speculation is half the fun. The Avatar cycle’s lore, Pavi’s twin and the lingering consequences of Korra’s choices all fuel intriguing possibilities. While not much is certain yet, the series has the potential to push the franchise into thrilling new territory — where spiritual and political turmoil collide, and the Avatar’s legacy hangs in the balance.

A new entry in the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise, titled Avatar: Seven Havens, seems to bring a lot of new changes to the franchise. From what is known about the series, the world will be torn apart by a devastating cataclysm, with new enemies from the human and spirit world hunting the new Avatar. The last strongholds of humanity are barely holding on, and the world is a much bleaker place compared to the first two entries in the franchise. However, that leaves fans to speculate about the state of each nation in this chaotic new era.
At the end of The Legend of Korra, we still see the United Republic of Nations struggling to address the aftermath of Kuvira's invasion. Other independent territories like the Air Nation and Water Tribes are still active, but not much is known about the state of the other nations after The Legend of Korra's conclusion.

Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender is regarded as one of the very best animated series of all-time. Created by Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko, the show was more than just another series aimed at young audiences: it was full of deeply emotional storytelling, covering themes of war, oppression, grief, and moral ambiguity.
Because of its incredible world-building and multi-faceted story, Avatar was always a top contender for a live-action adaptation. And that's exactly what it got...but the results were mixed. For instance, legendary director M. Night Shyamalan attempted to adapt the series to the big screen with The Last Airbender in 2010, but the results were disastrous. The movie was awful; look no further than its 5% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
This brings us to Netflix's live-action remake, which aired its first season in 2024. Despite Dimartino and Konietzko dropping out of the project early on due to creative differences,...

Avatar: The Last Airbender introduced audiences to rich and complex lore, with a fantastic magic system, and brilliant narrative depth. The Legend of Korra expanded on this, going into the nitty-gritty of the Avatar cycle’s origin, while also making specialized bending arts from the original series more widespread.

Created by Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko, Nickelodeon'sAvatar: The Last Airbender still astounds viewers more than two decades after its premiere; fans instantly resonated with this world of elemental benders and dangerous spirits, with the unbearable burdens of its protagonist, Aang (Zach Tyler Eisen), teaching them the value of community in the face of hatred. It was a beautiful narrative many were gutted to see end after three seasons, but luckily, this world's intricate story continued in the sequel seriesThe Legend of Korra. And now we know that it will be fleshed out even further in the recently announced follow-up, Avatar: Seven Havens.

Kuvira as a villain was an interesting take on an antagonist for Avatar Korra. Her final antagonist in the show, Kuvira was an echo of what Ozai was, but in many ways different, given that, unlike Ozai’s quest for power, Kuvira genuinely thought that her way of doing things would lead to a better world.

Avatar: The Last Airbender remains a beloved series for kids and adults, standing out as a cultural phenomenon resonating across generations. With recent news surrounding Avatar: The Last Airbender's newest anime series, titled Avatar: Seven Havens, comes grim tidings. The lack of clear marketing, overblown expectations and a rushed production may just kill the new Avatar series on arrival. Avatar Studios may have bitten off a bit more than they can chew with so many projects in the works. And despite the hype surrounding the new Avatar series, the lack of clear direction has not gone unnoticed.
Back in 2012, The Legend of Korra made waves as an exciting continuation to the beloved original Avatar: The Last Airbender series. But, Avatar: Seven Havens doesn't seem to have even half the excitement or love behind the first two releases in the Avatar catalog. The synopsis was recently revealed for the sequel series, but instead of being met with enthusiasm, the Avatar fandom has only used the news to confirm a controversial opinion: Korra ruined everything.

The world of Avatar: The Last Airbenderis rich and constantly expanding. After Aang's (Zach Tyler Eisen) story concluded, the beloved series got a sequel, The Legend of Korra, which explored the next incarnation of the Avatar, Korra (Janet Varney). And the universe is set to expand once again with the announcement of a new series focusing on the Earthbender following Korra. Though little is known about the upcoming series, Avatar: Seven Havens, it promises a very different world for the next Avatar. Set in a "world shattered by a devastating cataclysm" where the Avatar is not regarded as the hero it once was, the new series will be unique, much like The Legend of Korra's 1920s-inspired city set it apart from its predecessor.
