Handa Seishu moves from Tokyo to a small island after punching a famous calligrapher. There he meets many wacky and carefree people.

Handa, seeking to work on his calligraphy, is being "bothered" by the carefree residents of the island. This time, to the point he's hospitalized.

Handa submits his latest piece of calligraphy to an exhibition, only to be awarded a "disappointing" second place. Meanwhile, daily life on the island continues.

Miwa's father strong-arms Handa into writing the name on his ship; in the process, Handa gains a new perspective on his approach to calligraphy.

Guests have arrived, and one of them, Kanzaki, cast Handa into confusion. Handa responds back as one who has lived with the people on the island.

Handa's guests spend their last day on the island going fishing. Handa learns that he can inspire others just as he has been inspired.

Handa experiences summer on the island, and sees a different side of Naru when he joins her in paying a visit to her family grave.

With the Narukain exhibit closing in, Handa is starting to feel the pressure again. He gains the inspiration to write his work, but...

After completing his submission, Handa turns his attention to the island and its residents; Naru gets a surprise when she goes to pay Handa a visit.

Handa is back in Tokyo for an important meeting. When he really starts feeling the pressure, he finds comfort in an unexpected phone call.

With a few more loose ends to tend to, Handa is ready to go back to the island. Smiling faces and open arms await Handa's return.
