Operation Avalanche

Anachronisms
In two scenes in the movie, one at the very beginning and the other right at the end, a dark blue pick up truck can be seen parked in a car park. The truck looks like it was made in the 80's - 90's and does not fit into the time line of the movie. It also has mag wheels of a modern design which look out of place in the 60's.

Revealing mistakes

At around 60 minutes into the movie, Matt marks Friday the 17th of April (or of another month with only 30 days) as a deadline date, on a wall calendar that has the 1st of January on a Wednesday. The scene takes place in the year 1969. However, although 1 January 1969 is indeed on a Wednesday, 17 April 1969 is on a Thursday, not on a Friday.

In fact, there is no "Friday the 17th" in the year 1969 except in January and October, which are months with 31 days. And the only calendars that have 1 January on a Wednesday as well as 17 April on a Friday, are calendars of specific *leap years* such as 1936, 1964, 1992 and 2020.

In other words, the scene reveals that the filmmakers used a calendar of the wrong year as a prop.

Anachronisms

During the car chase, the baseball broadcast references Kansas City Athletics pitcher Catfish Hunter. The Athletics had moved to Oakland in 1968, a year before the scene takes place.

Around the 32 min mark when Matt knocks on Owen door, Matt's reflection is seen clearly in the glass despite the windows having the appearance of leaded glass. This is because the windows are prefabricated double-glazed units with the 'leaded' components being sandwiched between sheets of glass. Such units were not made in 1969, when the film is set.

Errors in geography

When the "documentary crew" first arrives at NASA in Houston near the beginning of the film, a montage of different NASA buildings is shown in the background. Very few if any of these buildings are actually in Houston, including the Saturn V rocket they "drive by", which is actually next to Highway 65 outside Huntsville, Alabama.

Character error

Multiple times in the movie the "CIA agents" pronounce the words "about" and "sorry" as Canadians typically do, not as typical Americans would.
