On September 15, 2017, the show was canceled by Freeform after three seasons, presumably due to low ratings. A large fan campaign to bring back the show was soon launched on Twitter with the full support of the cast and crew. A petition was made and fans tweeted emails of higher-ups at Freeform as well as Freeform's Feedback page on their website. Fans also contacted other networks, specifically SYFY and TheCW, to get them to pick the show up for a fourth season.
When preparing to stitch Kirsten into a memory, each department routinely reports its readiness to Cameron. When each has reported they are "Go," Cameron always ends the "pre-stitch" check by quoting a catchphrase from a classic science fiction movie or television program.

On July 14th 2015, Stitchers was renewed for season 2.
Despite an incredible amount of support from fans, Freeform canceled the series after three seasons on September 15th, 2017. The cast, crew and fans all had emotional fairwells, especially after the Season 3 (and now series) finale ended on a huge cliffhanger.
