Hilarious and touching look at what goes on behind the scenes at a church. It starts out in medias res and is a bit difficult to figure out who's who at the beginning, but once you get who everybody is, you'll quickly start to care about every member of the ensemble cast.
All too often, people of faith are turned in to objects of mockery and easy punchlines, but this show has the courage to go for more difficult laughs. The humor lies in watching the staff at this church negotiate the delicate balancing act of following their vocation while also being pragmatic enough to keep the church functioning. The respect this show feels towards its characters and their beliefs makes "Disciples" feel fresh and unique. If you're tired of the same old fare, give this show a shot.
