Switch your brain off... if strike back was a movie then this would be pretty much how it looked..! I've definitely seen worse, but to hell with it... few beers on board and it's easy watching, just don't expect great things from it other than a cheese fest

A group of navy seals/commandos decide to help retrieve a cargo of Nazi gold said to be hidden under water. The acting is unconvincing and fake. A few half decent action sequences plus some scenic views cannot save this dud of a picture. This movie lacks sufficient excitement, does not engage the viewer and has no charismatic characters:
4/10.

JK Simmon's had the best lines, but this was a feel good action movie with a good ending.
There is precisely one action scene in the movie which happens in the first 15 minutes after that it's boring exposition, Lazy Acting, and a few scenes that should qualify as action scenes but they're so dull and boring since you don't care about the characters and barely anything exciting happens anyways.
Jk Simmons performance is the only redeeming quality that nonetheless still does not save this shitty movie.
Don't watch it unless you want to get bored.

Completely predictable, Navy seal team are the strongest, no one can stop them. They avoided every bullet, which is impossible in reality but only possible in American cinematography ;)
Its clear this isn't your AAA big money Tom Cruise Action movie but that hardly detracts from the overall enjoyment from the movie in fact the day of the Hollywood A Lister headlining movies seems to be coming to an end.
The movie itself is well directed and the cast are all good with a couple of stand out performances from screen veterans.
Watching the film I was reminded very much of the action adventure novels I used to read as a kid and into my late teens. It had that vibe all throughout the film and it was just an enjoyable movie to watch from start to finish. There was some funny moments in it and there was some romance and sprinkled throughout was action, danger and bravado.
If you are expecting an out and out action movie then you may well be dissapointed as while there is action, explosions and fighting in the movie they certainly do not dominate it.
I think the pacing may be little off in parts and a tighter budget restricts the amount of 'danger' they can add to the scenes but all in all its a very enjoyable movie with a feel good factor throughout.

A team of Navy SEALs discover an underwater treasure in a Bosnian lake. And then they will go for it. The actors are all unknown, except J.K. Simmons as their boss and Ewen Bremner, atypically not really there to provide the comic relief. The latter is the responsibility of Simmons, and as in every role, ever, he's great at it, with his sarcasm and dry wits and all. Amazingly, at the moment of writing this in the early morning of September the 6th, there is no single critic review of Renegades" on Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic, and the IMDb user score 5.6 out of 10 doesn't seem to promising either. Even the image selection published thus far is shitty. Let me be the bearer of good news, then: Renegades" is not some bullcrap deserving to be forgotten right after premiere. It is a very OK action adventure which I happened to enjoy from the beginning to the end. The action is fine, the story is fine and the cast of nobodies is cool also. Simmons, of course, steals the show but it would be difficult for anybody to wrestle with this cinematic magnetic force of a bald old man. "Renegades" is smart enough to not take itself too seriously so the story and the characters won't get boring. But it takes seriously the punching and shooting part, evoking the nostalgic atmosphere of old war (or maybe 1980's action) movies where the good guys always hit the mark and look good doing so. Luc Besson, one of the writers and producers, has been known for his eurotrash" approach to action movies where the realism is out of the window and dirty fun factor is up to eleven. Well, surprisingly, this one's not trashy but rather a solid little actioneer that you could bring home to show to your parents, or something. The characters and their relationships are surprisingly subtle too, not a single sex bomb Eastern European chick on sight! The men are not complicated, mostly used as a means to move the story along, but they feel real enough to root for them. Oh, and the settings look beautifully pictoresque, especially the lake hiding the treasure. And it should, considering that it was shot in Croatia and Malta, among others. If one is to try to find the faults with the movie, the underwater part could have been shorter, maybe. It's not the most gripping section because of the impaired visibility and freedom of movement (due to it being underwater) which slows the usual high-octane action down. Interestingly, Steven Quale has co-directed the underwater documentary Aliens of the Deep" (2005) alongside the great James Cameron. His other works are more mundane, including 2014's Into the Storm" and, er, Final Destination 5". Renegades" is well done in every major aspect, a polished and solid action movie totally worthy of your time. Well, my time at least. A hefty slice of competence porn of manly men doing the hard work no on else can and not counting bullets doing so cuz doing the right thing justifies the means!

The premise started off mediocre, somehow reminding you of The Expendables series. The audience would probably think of it as a rip-off to the movie as it has that similar environment with its freakin' huge tank smashing through walls and smearing dirt over the roads while the S.A.S (Rival) trying to put a stop to it and arrest them for their own sake. The scene here did not fortify anything for the sake of the plot except on showing the team they were reckless enough on a very confidential mission.
As part of that, most of the actions scenes, well probably all of them that were shown in the official trailer were seen only in that first 20 minutes of the film. The second and third act did not maintain its action-heroic sequences that we thought it's going to take place on that before the screening started.
The dialogues were kind cheesy, saying words and the quite bland witty one-liners that merely gave us a smile or a sudden chuckle.
The cinematography was corny. For one, the color effect did not live up to its standard expectation as for us who are living in a world surrounding with techs. The coloring style was dull that added the clichéd-ness of the entire film.
Sullivan Stapleton did a good job with his acting but not as great as he was previously in the five seasons of Strike Back. J.K. Simmons also put some hope for the film to lighten its mood but the rest of the casts seem to be against the notion.
As the film went on until the final climax scene, we were expecting probably an action scene to wrap the movie nicely but surprisingly, none of the mentioned scene was provided unless if you call a dozen of grenades being anchored into the deep water and a 20-second featuring soldiers firing guns an action scene then.. hell yeah.
Not a great movie to be made in 2017. It should have been done 10 years earlier as audience would appreciate this popcorn flick film. 30/100

Both my wife and I enjoyed the movie. Yes, there are many glaring technical inaccuracies in it, but at least we didn't see the usual 9mm pistols firing 40 shots with 1 clip and able to take on multiple people with carbines. Good story and they really built up the suspense. It's a reasonable watch.

Terrible acting, terrible writing, terrible action scenes. Even JK Simmons couldn't save this turkey and he's one of my favorite actors. Stapleton is not good in this or anything else I've seen him in, his acting is wooden and not believeable. The actual storyline has some merit but the way it was bought to screen let it down entirely.
Save yourself some time and don't watch this, it is truly awful and I feel cheated to have wasted my time on it.
This flick is not a war movie or a bond thriller, rather a mix of different genres with a really good story and characters.
Defently worth the money.

Good idea about a nazi treasure on the bottom of a lake.
The actors do a good job, lots of funny lines - watch the movie, ignore the bad reviews!
This is a seriously bad movie, every single line and sub-plot has been seen in countless other films. You cannot believe or connect with any of the characters. And the scene where these Yank misfits take on the SAS and win is just beyond belief. Don't waste your time.

It is absolutely shocking that this movie came out in today's market, real american-style heroes: kill evebody for money, steal whatever they want, and say "it's for country". scum-movie. If you are just looking for an entertaining film, this is a major disappointment, to say the least.Don't waste your time or your money on this movie. This has to be one of the worst movies of the year!!!
What to begin! First i talk acting-it was very good. Story is fresh to me,and i love the underwater village. When movie goes year 1995 and the escape part was rolling,i was thinking of one other movie expendables and it reminds of that.Becose of lot of special effects and destroyed machines and buildings. Ending when bad guy gets killed was little bit bad(to fast). But i liked when he got shout they show is eyes. All movie is worth all my money what i spend, and i really hope the DVD come out Estonia to. :)

This movie started off well then deteriorated quite quickly. Apart from the goofs mentioned in the goofs section, two Navy Seals kicking the arses of about 4 SAS men? Really!! If you can turn off your brain and watch with your mouth open then its ok.

I thought this was going to be another poor, sad old, low budget effort but I was happily proved wrong.
Not a bad little action film; loved the tank in the water escape scene and some really refreshing and unexpected set pieces.
Sylvia Hoeks a former model and also in the decidedly below average Bladerunner 2049 but she is actually quite good in both movies and not your usual Cara Delevigne cannot act bit of fluff on a stick or member of the acting eyebrows squad for once! It should lose a star for having the awful Scots actor Ewen Bremner doing his usual crap American accent and hammy, cringeworthy performance. J.K. Simmons was on top form as usual, added that funny element to the proceedings. Loved the ending too - nice touch!
Solid 6/10 dont listen to the negative reviews from the 1/10 brigade who clearly have no idea what a reasonable star rating is; just as bad as all the 10/10 Imdb shills.
1/10 means its the worst movie you have ever seen - These reviewers have obviously never seen the "BAD BATCH" with Keanu Reeves - this movie cost $66,000,000 - REALLY THOUGH? Where did it go - Into the Stars pockets obviously!
If you like your war movies and a bit of action this one is for you. If you are a lefty liberal mangina offended by war films and men being manly then go watch DETROIT, BUSHWICK or some other leftist crapula and leave the real men to do their thang!

If you like action/war movies then this is for you. Acting is pretty stiff especially J.K. Simmons - worst speech ever... Reminded me Lassard from Police Academy hehe. I like Sullivan from Strike Back so can live with the rest. 6/10

The plot and characters have promise, with a killer location for the movie, but they are so far wide of the mark in so many aspects it's almost disappointing. The plot twists are formulaic and obvious, the dialogue cheesy and typically over the top American bravado.
If they had a military technical advisor, he should be put in front of a firing squad and shot. Many aspects of the film are woefully inaccurate and even downright stupid. 2 NATO elite SF Units going head to head is absolutely laughable, never mind the Yanks walking through unscathed as if they were facing wet behind the ears recruits!
Pilots just head off on a jolly into enemy airspace getting involved in air to air combat with no air support, flight auth or follow up.
The helo carrying the cargo at the end couldn't even get remotely close to lifting that sort of weight. I could go on but you get the drift. Not everything has to be 100% realism, but it has to be at least close/believeable
Sullivan Stapleton plays Sullivan Stapleton again in this movie. I actually like him as an action hero, but he is basically playing Damien Scott/Kurt Weller in this.
Despite all that, it does try to harp back to the 80's and 90's type of action movies, there are some lovely locations and some good action sequences, although not nearly enough for an action movie if am honest. It starts with a bang and ends with a whimper!
Simmons provides some comedic relief, but again he plays the same character we all expect him to be with nothing outdide of what's expected of him.
It's not the worst film you'll ever see and is a bit of mindless fun if you need some time off with your brain in neural, but I doubt you would ever revisit it.

Okay, so some of the combat scenes are really poorly shot. Then some of the cinematography is actually breathtaking. Just as suddenly we're in the middle of a Ocean's Eleven, to James Bond, and back to Strike Back.
All around, a really great movie.

I set up a imdb account just to review this movie because of the unfair reviews, the story, acting and action are all good, I got more invested as the movie went on, I really enjoyed it. There was clearly a good budget for this movie, jk Simmons is great as you would expect but all the actors are good and the ending is great, nothing wrong with a feel good ending, some may say that the story is cliche but who cares, the people who give this movie a very low score, I really wonder have they seen an actually terrible movie like zombiesauraus for example, in summary if you want feel good, non taxing movie with some action, renegades is good.
