I enjoyed this low budget coming of age film more so then most who reviewed it here. Director/Writer Daniel Grasskamp does a fine job making the film feel like it had a higher budget. Caspian Faye as April and Jodie Hirst as Cat are solid enough in their parts. Neither are Jodie Comer level actors but they do the job. Faye struggles a bit in some dramatic scenes but it's not awful or anything.
The romance is done well, Hirst sells Cat's first feelings of love very well. Faye does flirty side of April very well and those scenes are their best acting in the film. Although the film could have done with giving us some more time with April and Cat in Love. It just lays on the drama probably a bit too much for me. We don't see enough of them happy together to really sell what happens at the end.
The Ending with the rape scene with April's ex boyfriend wouldn't have been something I would have done. The film is already downbeat enough, let these two characters have a happy ending.
The film is worth at least one watch, some of the supporting actors are hit and miss in their performances and the ending could have been better. But two leads are likeable and central romance just about works but it could have done with some lighter moments.
But overall solid 6/10.
