  • A man can build a building in 3200 days but 3200 man cant build a building in one hour. This is basic logic. The production of this film is one of the best since many years. However the script is a total disaster.I don't want to mention about the awful directing. The script is full with basic propaganda lines. The writer (writers) wanted to simplify the language however put lines that only existed after decades. Putting a nonsense love story to a epic battle turned the film to the same position like "Pearl Harbour". I didn't like the film "Pearl Harbour" and i definitely didn't like "Son Mektup". Turkish producers and writers have a sick disease to teach people history. To be honest this lessons are mostly useless. Its a film, not a documentary. To the foreword of this review again : "A man can build a building in 3200 days but 3200 man cant build a building in one hour".If you really believe that the production could save this film you will be deeply disappointed.
  • This movie has been released just couple of days ago and it's a awful movie,The movie tries to tell viewers "Ataturk has done nothing in the Gallipoli war",and they mentioned his name in the movie only once and then nothing, what a shame...he is Our leader and Founder of Turks,This awful movie tries to do effect on us to forget about him but we never will,Do not you never ever forget about that... If i were you i would go watch another nice movie but not this garbage because it s totally totally not worth to watch,Really awful. Don't waste your time. if even they give you money to watch it you will regret and you will never take back that hours from your life. You will suffer and suffer. There is no subject on that movie
  • Another propaganda film made by a bunch of guys who's main job is making TV ads. Making a film about war of Gallipoli without mentioning Mustafa Kemal. Are you serious? Let the Aussies do the job boys. Watch Water diviner instead. Try harder and let the historical facts be your guide not your sponsors. People without spirit and belief can not make this movie. Living in poverty everybody is shaved, make ups are perfect and it is the most clean and tidy war film ever. Our grandfathers fought this fight in poverty, without shoes, without ammunition, without any spare parts for the airplanes. They cover the fabric of the airframe with egg yolk to attach the fabric to the airframe. They salvaged parts from downed airplanes and improvised. But what we see is a beautifully painted red plane. How can we believe that? Funny. Another waste of time and money.
  • Another sympathizer film of the government in Turkiye. The film was produced in order to earn money on national and historical emotionality of Turks and to be sympathetic to the present government. But there was an injustice in the film because the founder and the leader of Turkiye Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and the hero of the battle Seyit Onbaşı had never been mentioned. Because some evil-minded people in Turkiye try to cause the new generation to forget Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.(Nobody managed to do this and never will be able to do.) Also pupils were taken to this film by force. If they weren't taken by force the producers couldn't have earned any money.
  • son mektup is a poorly directed movie. the script feels like it's written sloppy. the acting is another weakness of the movie. religious words and shouting is not enough giving the feeling of a battle which is won under very difficult circumstances.

i hardly endured till the end of it. i don't think i will ever remember son mektup a couple of weeks later.

plus, the movie is allegedly funded by an initiative that has the purpose of distorting the actual battle of gallipoli according to their political perspective. i think historical movies should be fair to their own realities.

    not recommended.

I don't like the movies that "called historical ones but they are not using any historical references"..I wish to watch that if its called historical movie then it should use good references or if its called epic/fantastic , then i wish to watch unreal things..anything..but this movie claims that its a historical movie and its about a really important issue with a nation, though it doesn't use any historical references..just simple romantic relationships and politics arguments..well, well...i just believe that this producer wish to earn good money from a politicial group by using a nations history/beliefs/feelings..Just trash..Don't waste your time and money..

i loved Son Mektup movie. It's so emotional movie. And certainly it has epic, dramatic scenes. Set during the Battle of Gallipoli in 1915. The story follows a young Turkish pilot and a nurse who together rescue and attempt to shelter a young orphan boy amidst the chaos of battle. Son Mektup has a great screenplay. And gorgeous scenes, excellent acting. Son Mektup is a major advance for Turkey. But i don't understand some people who manipulated Son Mektup. Other comments don't reflect the truth. And contain political views. And this is a huge mistake for movie reviews. Because this film is really great movie and don't contain political views. I highly recommend watching this film.
  • I was expecting to go back in the history and. Dive into the past with this movie. Unfortunately, it is neither history based real or it gives any entertainment to the audience. The characters are slow, story is unclear but I can only say that they tried best to show the past environment colorful and clean. Neither the soldiers nor the nurses (it is also unclear why nurses are so for front in the war) have their clothes as new as possible. Conversations are dull, acting is way below avarage. Finishing this movie is a real pain, and it is almost impossible not to be distracted in any way as it gets boring more and more. I would recommend to save your time and watch anything else, instead of this.
  • Son Mektup is a new and different movie that makes everything seem more exciting, just like the water diviner, it concentrates on the individual struggles and sacrifices made by the people of Turkey. But be warned this move doesn't have the great leader Atatürk in it, therefore it could offend some narrow minded individuals. It's just another view, to the war with no hidden agenda... that's all. I enjoyed it and loved it good work to the produced and cast. Son Mektup also tries its best not to take a vindictive stance about the enemy powers of the period. A war is a war, and even the character of a Turkish general comments on the deceased English soldiers on a warship that has just been bombed, This is a huge step for Turkish filmmakers endeavoring to produce films leaning on militarism.
