Summaries

  • In 1535, King Henry VIII's attempt to be declared Head of the Church in England has been denied by the Holy Roman Emperor. Meanwhile, Anne Boleyn's failure to produce a male heir leads Henry toward Jane Seymour.
  • 1535:- Henry has declared himself head of the English church though he is not recognized by the Holy Roman Emperor or his ambassador Chapuys. Anne is pregnant again and aware of Henry's interest in waiting woman Jane Seymour. Angry that the French king will not arrange a marriage for her daughter Elizabeth she demands Thomas discredits princess Mary though he refuses and visits the dying Katherine of Aragon, later sending Chapuys - to whom he has defended his policy of closing the monasteries - to administer to her. Thomas realizes the extent to which Anne hates him and fears for his safety when the king is erroneously believed to be dead which would give Anne powers as Regent. Thus he listens more intently to Lady Rochford's insinuations as , after Anne has miscarried, factions grow at court between her supporters and those of Jane Seymour.—don @ minifie-1
  • It's 1535 and King Henry VIII has been declared head of the Church of England. Cromwell continues to work behind the scenes, arranging for a visit to the Seymours at Wolf Hall. Queen Anne worries that she may be put aside in favor of Jane Seymour, to whom Cromwell has taken a liking. The queen is upset with him as well for not having followed her earlier wishes concerning a marriage contract for her daughter Elizabeth. Cromwell arranges for the imperial ambassador, Chapuys, to finally acknowledge Anne as queen, but the long awaited meeting with the king does not go well with both Chapuys and Cromwell paying the price. There is a glimmer of hope when Anne is again pregnant once but another miscarriage has the king talking about ending his marriage.—garykmcd
  • In 1535, King Henry VIII's attempt to be declared head of the Church in England -seizing church properties, often on charges of perversity- has been denied by the Holy Roman Emperor, which further complicates seeking matches for the princesses, adding to the despair of his ambassador bishop Eustace Chapuys, whom Cromwell semi-coaches to recognize the royal marriage -as Katherine of Aragon had died alone but dignified and 'faithful', as she's buried- 'so it can be dissolved'. The king waves requests not to enter a joust, drawn to face Thomas's boy Gregory, but has a cardiac arrest - the pro and Boleyn parties at court rush to seize power, but Cromwell's rough heart massage revives his majesty. After Anne's latest miscarriage (of a boy), he's now instructed to seek a way to annul 'fertility-cursed' Anne's marriage, whatever it takes, so Henry can try for a son with Cromwell's friend Jane Seymour. Thomas examines a suspicious fire in Anne's quarters.—KGF Vissers
