  • Susan Reinhardt has been passed over for promotion, but she's on the case again, a cunning plan to spring Jules Hope out of prison using Prison Warden David Murdoch has resulted in the Death of an innocent Policeman.

It's very different to the first series, the only thread that links the two is the involvement of Rosie Cavaliero's Susan Reinhardt. She grew on me during the final episodes of Series one, and is very much on the case again.

It is pushing the levels of belief once again, but it's good telly, a very dramatic opening few minutes is explained as the episode progresses. As it ends we're left with plenty of questions and curiosities.

Very well made, very well acted. I enjoyed very much, 7/10.

The first series of this ITV drama series was a little corker with Jon Simm on electric form as a man accused of the murder of his wife and son and it brought back memories of classic film The Fugitive.

This second series changes all the characters bar Detective Susan Reinhardt(the fabulous and very funny Rosie Cavaliero)who was the Tommy Lee Jones to Simm's Harrison Ford in the first series.

In this series she is tasked with finding prison officer David Murdoch(superb Philip Glenister)and inmate Jules Hope(MyAnna Buring)who are on the run to meet up with Jules's brother and to exchange her for David's daughter Lucy(Emmerdale's Sammy Winward)who is being held hostage by Jules' brother but there might be more to it than meets the eye as unbeknown to them her brother was killed in a burnt out car Reinhardt was investigating.

Once again a innocent man is doing the wrong thing to try and help someone he loves but Susan is only interested in finding the couple.

Like the first series the acting is tip top especially from Cavaliero who has really hit a career high the last few years mainly thanks to this character who is sorely determined to find fugitives whilst having troubles in her personal life and as always is never afraid to voice her opinion and makes us chuckle with it.

Glenister is a lot more serious than in many of his other roles and he is marvellous as a straight as a die father forced to do things he would never do normally to save his estranged daughter, this very talented man deserves more lead roles.

Others like MyAnna Buring as his sort of partner in crime Jules,Nathan Stewart Jarrett as Reinhardt's young sidekick Richard and beauty Sammy Winward as David's stroppy daughter Lucy make their mark especially Jarrett who is just great and livens up any serious scene with some spot on humour and would like to see him have more top roles in the future too.

The episode is gripping all the way through whether its in the superb chase scenes or before when David finds out about Lucy's kidnapping or even in scenes in Reinhardt's private life it is never dull,my personal fave moments are the chase sequences when David and Jules are on the run and everything they do gets them into more trouble, stakes are high.

A great start to this second series with two outstanding lead actors(even if I think Simm's character and his story was more gripping),nail biting chase sequences and its pretty funny for a drama and can't wait to see what happens next.
