Abigail Franklin is a New York Time's bestselling author, who is often visited by mysterious beings in the middle of the night. When she begins to feel threatened by their presence, she reaches out to an old friend named Sam Toll. Upon discussing Abigail's encounter, Sam comes to the conclusion that these beings are much more sinister than either of them had anticipated. He believes that she has encountered an evil race of spiritual beings from another dimension.
