  • Max Hardcore is certainly the worst thing to ever happen to Adult Cinema, but the newer cellar-dweller using the moniker Max Candy is not much better. He not only produced this unreleasable stinker for poor old Marc Dorcel (perhaps doddering in terms of quality control recently), which sat on the shelf for a year before being dumped on us poor Dorcel fans, but also had the temerity to star in the leading non-sex role and doing virtually all the dialogue himself. Nominal director is his "hero" Michael Ninn, who would have been better off not being blamed for this mess.

In the usual Dorcel "Making of " short subject (a censored half hour for French TV use) Candy describes all the plot and characters of the film, none of which is made clear during its actual duration. That is a common shortcoming of recent Dorcel product - a very lazy and often contradictory way of filmmaking that never would have passed muster in his golden age decades back before DVD as crutch was introduced.

Actual movie is cryptic, with severely styled blonde Jessie Volt as assistant to Candy, whose name is revealed as Wright in the short. He's a boorish taskmaster, mistreating the beauty, even subjecting her to giving him a blow job while he's ordering some poor devil around on the phone, after having her light up a cigar for him. Now this blow-job is off-screen and ordinarily I would think nothing of it, but given the complete jerk he presents in real life here I wouldn't put past this producer having an actress blow him on set.

The incomprehensible series of five sex scenes provide enough condom-laden XXX action to satisfy the least particular of Dorcel and Euro porn addicts, though I found it all yawn-inducing. Per the "Making of", Jessie is plotting against Wright's family and getting compromising evidence (via hidden cameras) on Wright, his lovely wife Victoria Sweet, son and daughter Kari. Without the Cliff's notes it makes no sense and is uninteresting.

Candy the would-be actor resembles a less-talented but equally domineering Penn Jilette -not exactly what you want to see in a porn film. Volt as Maxine the p.a. is appealing, but this farrago doesn't even have an accurate title, using her name Jessie there instead of the character's Maxine. I guess Max can't be bothered with any details.

Shot in the Czech Repulbic, it provided a Euro vacation for Yank talent like India Summer (totally wasted as a call girl), Scarlet Red and Seth Gamble.
