- At the new year chimes of midnight, drunk Arthur stumbles into Sikes, who pickpockets his watch and wallet and sells them to Fagin. Compeyson forces Arthur to reveal that his father almost disinherited him for being a homosexual, then undressed ordering Arthur to run a hot bath. Compeyson insinuates himself with Captain Hawdon to get closer to Honoria and Amelia. Edward puts up his house as collateral for a loan from Scrooge, who argues with Sikes over Nancy. Inspector Bucket demands Marley's ledger from Scrooge and scours it for clues. Sir Leicester dashes Frances' hopes by saying he is smitten with Honoria. Compeyson steals Amelia's doted spaniel Dash, staging a public rescue of it from the wheels of a passing coach, apologizes to Amelia for his rudeness and implies his loving her. As Bob comes escort Martha to her wedding, Inspector Bucket arrives to arrest him for Marley's murder.—KGF Vissers
