Julie's Greenroom is a delightful Netflix exclusive musical drama.
Julie (Julie Andrews) runs an aging theater inherited from her father. She offers a workshop to teach young puppet-people (and a puppet duck, and a little affectionate puppet dog, too) about the arts. When the basement floods--ruining the props and costumes--they must give up their planned production of the Wizard of Oz, and come up with a new plan.
I was entranced by Episode 1 (The Show Must Go On), which included a behind- the-scenes tour at the Broadway production of Wicked, and an absolutely gorgeous, inspirational new song, sung by guest Idina Menzel.
The puppets are from The Jim Henson Company, and include a character of non-binary gender, along with the usual array of multicultural kids, both able-bodied and wheelchair-bound. They each delight as they engage with Julie and her talented assistant, Gus (Giullian Yao Gioiello), to build a production they will all enjoy and remember.
There are 13 episodes in Season 1. I'm hooked, and will definitely watch them all. The series can be enjoyed by preschoolers and adults, alike.
