Screenwriter Gary Whitta worked on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) before joining the Rebels writing staff and used a name left over from an early version of Rogue One as Sabine's alias: Ria Talla.
The TIE interceptor from Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983) and the Rebel Transport from Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) make their first canonical appearances on this show according to the timeline.
