  • At last, a return to the spirit of Old Top Gear that i'd been hoping for - three idiots cocking around, being ambitious but rubbish. Throw in some arid but beautiful scenery from a hidden gem of a country (who'd even heard of Namibia?) and you have all the ingredients for a classic road trip. The highlight for me was the scene in a camping equipment shop which is one of the funniest things i've seen in 45 years of watching tv, and there was even some actual science when Jeremy tried to locate the Southern Cross constellation - who'd have guessed that Clarkson was a budding Patrick Moore ? The 3 vehicles used, beach buggies as it turned out, were almost incidental because as everyone knows, this show is all about the genius of three unique presenters, and they were back to their best here, which of course is so much better than the rest.
