If you can't beat 'em, join 'em! Ever since rapper Eminem released his song "Lose Yourself" for the 2001 film 8 Mile, fans have made countless memes and punchlines about one particular lyric. In the song, Eminem's persona is so nervous for a rap battle that he has "vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti." And thus, the Oscar-nominated song also became an Internet sensation. Now it looks like Eminem is joining in on the laugh. To celebrate his ninth LP release, Revival, Eminem is hosting a pop-up in Detroit at The Shelter Club. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., the shop will feature the album, exclusive...

New Zealand’s main conservative political party has been ordered to pay Eminem $529,000 Cad (Nz $600,000) plus interest for breaching copyright by using a song too similar to the rapper’s “Lose Yourself” in its campaign adverts. The National Party used the song “Eminem Esque” 186 times during the 2014 election campaign before they pulled the clip. […]...

Earlier this week, Eminem and his publishers were awarded $600,000 by a New Zealand Court in a copyright case against the National Party, which used a song similar to Eminem's "Lose Yourself" in a 2014 election advertisement. But instead of just keeping all of the money for himself, Eminem is donating the proceeds to hurricane relief efforts. "Eminem was not a party to this lawsuit nor was he consulted regarding the case," his rep told Variety in a statement on Thursday. "Any monetary settlement he receives from it will be donated to hurricane relief. He encourages the plaintiffs, 8 Mile Style, to do the same." RelatedEminem's Brutal Takedown of President Trump is Truly Unmissable Following the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, Eminem has been using his star power to help victims. The New Zealand National Party had one shot, one opportunity, but they let it slip. New Zealand’s high court ruled Tuesday in favor of Eight Mile Style, the publishing company that owns the rights to Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” in a lawsuit over a 2014 political ad that copied the 2002 hit. The high court charged the political party a “hypothetical licence fee” of Nz$600,000, an amount the party likely would have been asked to pay had they been able to secure permission to use the song in the first place. Eminem's had some huge ups and downs in his career, but he's still come out on top. However, the music maker's about to take a big hit in the money department, as the rapper is selling his six-bedroom, nine-and-a-half-bath house in Michigan for $1.999 million. The big bummer (financially speaking) is that 14 years ago, the superstar purchased the mansion for $4.75 million, over twice as much as the current listing price. That's right—Marshall Mathers is listing his house at 42 percent of what he bought it for back in 2003. But just because the price has been slashed, doesn't mean the "Lose Yourself" rapper's house has lost any luster—no expense has been spared. The...

Eminem almost lost himself.
The 44-year-old rapper wished his longtime friend and collaborator 50 Cent a happy 42nd birthday. Eminem posted a video of himself on Thursday rapping a verse from the film 8 Mile — which he revealed made him want to quit making rap music.
“Yo, Fif,” Eminem begins. “First off, I wanna say happy birthday. Secondly, I want to remind you of a verse you did that made me want to quit rapping.”
50 Cent shared the video, writing in the caption, “Thank you @eminem you know your still the best in the world… to me man, I love you bro.

We don't want to sound dramatic, but we'd totally understand if you "Lose Yourself" over Eminem's new facial hair. As admirers of the Grammy winner know, Eminem is a man with a look that doesn't change very often. There are the short buzz cuts, baggy clothes and occasional beanies. But when stepping out for The Defiant Ones premiere at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, some music fans had one question: Is that Eminem? "Just a couple of guys from Compton and one from Detroit. With a beard," Eminem wrote on Instagram while posing with Dr. Dre and Kendrick Lamar. "#thedefiantones." Yes, friends. The man behind hit tracks like "Not Afraid,"...

On Last Week Tonight, host John Oliver ripped New Zealand Prime Minister Bill English’s remarks about Oliver which were shown after the American comedy news show had poked fun at his legal handling of the Eminem song, Lose Yourself. John Oliver returned to one of his favorite stories – the copyright lawsuit between Eminem's publishers and a New Zealand political party – on Sunday's Last Week Tonight.
It was nearly three years ago that the host first relished in New Zealanders' pronunciation of "Eminem," and with the trial finally underway, Oliver updated viewers on "unquestionably the lamest rap beef since Lil Wayne's five-year feud with William H. Macy."
As last week's proceedings revealed, the National Party didn't use Eminem's "Lose Yourself" in a campaign ad; instead, they employed a sound-alike track titled "Eminem-esque.

The Hollywood Reporter
Believe it or not, Sausage Party is getting a big Oscars push thanks to Sony.
The naughty R-rated animated film—which was written by and stars Seth Rogen, among others—was both a critical hit (currently sitting at 83% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes) and commercial success (earning more than $135 million worldwide, per Box Office Mojo) this summer and now it’s getting a campaign, as reported by our very own Scott Feinberg for The Hollywood Reporter, to help it compete in the 89th Academy Awards next February.
If you think this move is crazy, let us remind you about some of the off-the-wall things that have happened in the 21st century alone that will make it sound totally normal.
Blackface controversy.
Who would have guessed that—in 2009—there would be someone nominated for an Oscar who played a character in blackface.
