I really enjoyed the episodes with the original cast. Their are really funny. The rest is for now not that funny. The repetition comedy and reference to the original series is for me a failure. Yet again it may of worked with the original cast. Since actor like China Anne McClain are busy on other show's, they should of come up with new comedy material.

I thought this would be great but without Curtis and Ella this show would be a complete dud

azpais8 September 2018I like the original show better. This version has no flow at all. I like the idea of continuing storyline but they spend way too much time on one subject. The whole show is spent on foolishness. Nyla needs to go. How is Kendrick a surgeon?? This this show needs a reboot with some of the original cast.

guy_rodney21 September 2018I was excited when this show was announced. I was excited during the first couple of episodes. Then it became what it currently is: UNFUNNY AND UNINTERESTING! The audience's laughter at everything that is said by the cast is irritating, especially since it's never funny, and the plot is nothing but C.J., Jasmine, and Malik flipped to a single mother with two obnoxious children. On House of Payne, the Ella character was the aunt that everyone wanted, and the Curtis character was funny, but serious when he needed to be. Now Ella seems like a watered-down version of Madea, and Curtis is too irritating to watch. And the acting is horrible! The kids can't act, their mom can't act, and the young guy at the laundromat can't act. The only way to describe it is cardboardish. And why, Jackee Harry, did you accept a role that has you acting so...not Jackee Harry?
BRING BACK THE ENTIRE CAST OF HOUSE OF PAYNE! BRING BACK THE QUALITY OF HOUSE OF PAYNE! BRING BACK THE TALENTED ACTORS OF HOUSE OF PAYNE!
I give 2 stars because of the episodes that had the cast of House of Payne. Other than that...SMH -
purposedrivengoals24 May 2018Get rid of Curtis????? Curtis makes the show! I agree the original cast needs to be added to this cast. Lynn is a little funny in her own way but she is no Jasmine. The boy, her brother) needs to go. He is not funny at all, he is too 'mannish', hair is too wild (he needs a hair cut) and overall he cannot act. Ryan needs to grow up. Would like to see him take on a more manly role instead of that boyish under his mama's apron act he plays. Jackee' this is not 227 or Sister Sister. Bring something else fresh to the table. I think you are a wonderful actress but I see a lot of the same style of acting from your previous sitcom's. Would like to see a hospital setting with Kendrick having to treat Curtis and Curtis put up a fight. Since Calvin is single now why doesn't he hook up with Nyla? Janine's twins needs to come for a visit with their parents so Cj can help uncle Curtis at the laundromat.... needs more of the old cast period. Thanks Tyler P...

I understand they're doing other projects but when we got the announcement that the show was coming back I'm sure people thought it would be with the original cast. There's still too many questions that need to be answered like Calvin and Miranda's divorce. I have a suggestion since Janine family lives in Florida ...the rest of the family should move there . The new cast is okay but house of Payne was waaaaay better. Please bring back the original cast!!! They can join the show with the new cast cause they're not really that funny

It's like Tyler Perry isn't even trying to make the show good. Horrible acting all around. I guess the original actors probably wanted more money than Tyler Perry is willing to spend. Someone else stated how they stay on one subject to long, very true! Needs a change or cancel it!

kesheamedearis29 November 2018I think this is a great show with great promise. I will say I need a little more seriousness similar to the old show. This is a good show. Very good family show. It needs some improvement like more story lines but it's good. I didn't want to like this show at first because I missed the old cast but this new cast has grown on me. I would love a second season Tyler Perry!

melprice-229145 December 2019Ella and Curtis are funny, but add a laugh track after every single thing said makes the show so non-funny that it is a chore to watch. House of Payne let the viewer get the laughs without any prompting, but the laugh track on The Paynes does not even match the funny commentary on the show! Plus it is the SAME laugh track everytime, so obviously it is done by the producers that don't realize there is NO NEED to try to prompt laughs!! This would be an absolutely fabulous spin off if the network would just let it play. I've tried watching it twice, got to start of Episode 3 and got so frustrated with the laugh track interrupting the dialogue that I turned it off.

I've never seen a black family act like this in real life. Get rid of that depressing Nyla, she not entertaining at all. Finally, throw that laugh track in the garbage.

lilgaryjjohnson21 January 2018This is actually a pretty decent show. I only have 2 problems with it. For starters, the laugh track. It is being way over used. Almost after every sentence, you hear it. The other problem I have is JoAnn. When being promoted, JoAnn was being featured as a high profiled character. Yet, the first 3 episodes only show her for like 3 minutes. The 3rd episode doesn't feature her at all. I hope any later episodes feature her as the character they promoted her to be

mrillinois20 February 2022Extremely boring and basic. Mr. C was way to immature and childish for my taste. I was expecting it to bring in the traditional family values but that was missing too. Tyler Perry could have done a better job setting it up.
