  • A film as beautiful as it is sad, the children's naivety and friendship, sincere and pure, and all the pains and ills of war, the consequences of each act, from omission to rebellion, as painful to watch as it is emotional, a magnificent ending, with that twist plot we love...
  • This part of Ukrainian and Soviet Union doesn't illuminate in history books in Ukraine and Russia. The movie is opening the curtain how much German settlements were in Odesa region and South Ukraine. The tragic fate of the German people, who chose the Russian Empire as a new island of hope for a new life.

Lacking direction. Unfocused script. Acting ranges from wooden to cardboard.

There are many better movie on this worthy theme and in this setting.
