The talk-show began as a podcast in 2011, and transitioned to a talk show in June 2017 as Rob Paulsen was introduced and began to work with the people at Nerdist (a channel on YouTube.) His talk show, Talkin' Toons, is a part of a web subscription service called Project Alpha that Nerdist began in 2016 along with Geek and Sundry, where users have access to a wide selection of web series.
