  • Balaji Tharaneetharan's long-delayed film is one that's funny, progressive, and a bit of a drag in the last act. The first half is where the humourist in Balaji's at work: the comedic quotient here is almost as much as the intrigue. As a film that was made many years ago, it still holds relevance and rides the liberal wave. Kalidas Jayaram and Megha Akash perform sufficiently well in their roles. But it's a director's film and his stamp is all over the place. Like in NKPK (Balaji's debut directorial) and Seethakaathi, the world-building is detailed and fantastically done. We have parents concerned about what their kids have been up to, we have disapproving gynaecologists, we have a subplot in which a kid believes he's godsent, and we have godmen who are good at twisting stories into superstitions.

Where Oru Pakka Katha loses some of its steam is in the latter half. The core plot shifts from "a pregnancy before marriage" to "a child of God" and all the media baggage that comes with it. This social commentary is solid enough but it lacks the zing and the spontaneity of the first half. Scenes play out slower, the humour is absent, the drama is amplified and the ending is slightly message-heavy. Even with all its flaws, Oru Pakka Kathai is worth a watch, especially for its bizarrely original plot, quirky humour, and believable performances. Also, Govind Vasantha's music punctuates the film quite nicely.
  • It's an unique story, slow narration but interesting subject. Screenplay in the first half is fun though the story and characters are serious and tensed. Second half is boring at the start but pics up the pace gradually to the end. Overall its an interesting subject, so must watch
  • It was a good attempt with Brilliant message at the end. Only drawback of this movie is It tests your patience too much with its slow pace. Given that the Director is a well known one for his comedy , he could have made the movie more crisp. Though the movie released 5 Years late, the final claims message strikes chord ... The two kids' acting was so comic ... Hero n Heroine good debut ..
  • The story tells how society has been staying in backward course eventhough miraculous scientific revloution in the last 100 years.

A cute loveable story. Megha Akash cute Kalidas Jeyaram charm
  • Very very worst poor screenplay writing.... good story line... but poor execution.... dumb knowledge about screenplay.... done scenes for just 10mins worth short film but taken as 2 hours feature film without scenes.... unwanted length...... unprofessional..... childish makers
  • If you like different genre of films, you will liked this film. A bit slow but quite interesting

At one point I thought it is a great movie after watching the climax it is the worst movie and I thought if I waited the boring part of the movie the last twist will be great but its nothing just a message to society which poorly taken
  • Balaji dharanidharan once again proved good storyline is important for making a good movie. Though running at a slow pace it entertains at most of the places. Well ended with a strong message. Worth watching for movie lovers who are desperate for watching a film with unique storyline.
  • Nycc acting by lead cast Kalidash & Megha mamm... Unique concept... Good direction... Story somehow weak...
  • Story is somehow good. But, the screenplay was very poor. Seems like that short film are not edited and played like Feature Film. Acting of main characters are well scripted and it is the only strength for this movie.

Good acting from all the cast, especially kalidass and megha akash as its their debut film, nice background music and kudos to the 2 small boys they acted very well and funny. Must watch film
  • Film making, acting is good. I didn't like slowness and ending with social message. Especially I can't agree with other opinions that the movie rating is 10. It definitely not worth watching! Boring with intense slowness.
  • It's a good story which everyone much watch.

It's gives good sense on humanity. A great lesson for all the people to learn.

We need to have our beliefs but not in a dumb and in human way.
  • Director tried to say meaningful message to the society but screenplay does not have enough guts to project the same. Second half of the movie is too much dragging and fails to grab our attention.
  • The entire plot is based upon the concept of virgin birth called parthenogenesis.

It was an interesting incarnation of the concept in Tamil cinema, still, it could've been made in a much better more engaging way with more twists & turns in the script instead slow & sluggish one by conveying the story via Krishna.
  • This is the first movie for Kalidas and Megha Aakash but released late. Also Balaji Tharaneetharan tried to do a similar screenplay as NKPK but failed drastically.

Megha Aakash gets pregnant still being a virgin. The parents are not shocked of this asexual reproduction. Only thing they want to know is she is a virgin or not. Once doctor confirms she is a virgin everyone are relieved. They are not happy because she is the first case of parthenogenesis. They are happy because she is a virgin. I don't understand which century we are living in.

Both kalidas and megha did an amateur acting. Balaji's directing skills have deteriorated. In one important reveal scene, the presentation is going on and no one talks behind the presentation. Everyone are just watching the screen, the camera focuses the ppt and people and again ppt and people. Not even a serial director does this kind of direction. The news getting viral is just showed in 2 scenes it not viral in movie itself how will it be viral to us?

You have time to kill and can waste 2 hours then watch this. Keep looking only at Megha Aakash. She is a doll.
