"A Predator's Obsession" (a.k.a., "Stalker's Prey 2") developed an interesting set of characters with the focus on young Allison "Ali" Hooper. As aspiring photographer, Ali captures some revealing photos during the action, and she has her heart set on attending Albertus College in the fall.
At first, Ali is grateful when Daniel Kennedy rescues her little brother Kevin, as well as Ali herself, during a shark attack at the Silver Sands Marina. The first third of the film appears to be heading towards romance.
But the true colors of the neurotic Daniel kick in, and the film turns into the horror genre and a feeding frenzy for the sharks. It was unfortunate that three very decent characters, Ali's kind step-father (Ted), her boyfriend Carson, and her best friend Rhiannon become collateral damage.
Daniel, who first appeared to be a dreamer, turns into everyone's nightmare when he becomes obsessed with Ali. For her part, Ali was too slow in figuring out Daniel's pathology and not listening to Carson, who had the ocular proof that Daniel was an imposter.
There was some imagination on the part of the filmmakers as they wove the imagery of sharks throughout the film. But the final result was far too unpleasant, as apparent with the survivor Ali having lost three important people in her life. This feeding frenzy was a bummer.
