After the best episode of the series, I highly doubted that the follow-up was going to be anywhere near the quality of Reign's defeat of Supergirl before Christmas. Luckily, this episode didn't necessarily try to be better, but it certainly was a serviceable episode. And ironically, I think the best thing this show did was make a creative way to bring Supergirl back within one episode of her falling to Reign. It was something I originally thought would be nice to 'sit on' for a bit, but I've seen too many of these CW shows botch this type of arc. I mean, Arrow season 3 is a prime example which had a similar type of moment in episode 3-10.
This episode introduced Brainiac 5 to assist in Supergirl's return and it was difficult to accept the strange addition at first, but I grew to enjoy the Star Trek-y and comic-booky inspired decision. Overall, the way in which Kara was trapped and escaped her brain coma or whatever the heck you want to call it, I thought was an interesting way to bring her back.
It's also just nice to see a villain make a continued presence on this show, especially one as good as Reign thus far. Odette Annable continues to grow in this worldkiller role and I'm very intrigued to see where it goes by the time we reach the end of the season.
