A TV star fresh out of rehab shadows a cynical Los Angeles private investigator for a comeback role.

Follows Sam Swift, whose epic breakdown is broadcast to the public and sends her to rehab. Desperate to restart her career, she talks her way into shadowing private investigator Eddie Valetik as research for a comeback role. Though Eddie resents the babysitting gig ,high-spirited Sam uses the skills she learned as an actor playing a cop and proves herself to be surprisingly valuable.—ABC

Conscientious L.A. private eye Eddie Valetik grudgingly grants his ex a favor: allow the show agent's actress client Sam Swift, who fell out of public favor for abusing her ex and co)stars after years in a popular cop series, to tail him a month as method preparation for a career-rebooting PI movie. The eager brat constantly ignores his wise warnings, convinced she can contribute from fiction experience, which only impresses forensic expert and Sam-fan Mick English. Eddie is recruited to find a man's student daughter Lynette Rainey, feared murdered, which quickly leads to the drug business of the city's largest organized crime lord, so Eddie's cop lover Christine Rollins warns them to back down, but Sam keeps pushing his emotional buttons, having found out his murdered client trauma, and her beginners luck added to connections and tenacity prove valuable now it counts after finding Lynette and a murder only to be trapped.—KGF Vissers
