Miriam starts her American adventure in Chicago. She sees both sides of this divided city staying with AirBnB 'super-hosts' Larry and Jai and attending a glittering social event, but is pulled out of her visit to Merrill Park.

Miriam Margolyes continues her road trip. She starts at Summer Camp in Indiana. In Ohio she meets anti-drug sheriff Richard K. Jones who runs a prison in Butler County. Then she meets a group of preppers in the mountains of Tennessee.

Miriam feels the divide between city and country when she visits rural Arkansas. She then meets with a right-wing extremist, Texas' first female African-American sheriff and an all-woman biker gang.
