Eco-horror isn’t a sub-genre that gets talked about a ton unfortunately. It can be anything from animals attacking due to their sudden craving of human flesh like Grizzly or even just due to man not putting enough respect on the name of nature like in Long Weekend. The hey day of these is undoubtedly the 70s with things like Prophecy, The Swarm, Piranha, Phase 4, and a few other standouts. While the output certainly slowed down, there are more than a few standouts in the late 90s and even 21st century. We can’t seem to stop screwing up the planet and as we do, we get reminded that the planet may just fight back in ways like what is shown in Day After Tomorrow or to a hilarious degree in The Happening. A unique one that failed to make its budget back, even with good reviews and scores, is...

Of all the cautionary lessons that horror imparts, one of the most common warns us never to mess with Mother Nature. Those who are careless or hostile to the environment often meet their demises when Earth retaliates violently in eco-horror movies.
Ecological horror movies explore humankind’s estranged, fractured relationship with the planet, and its characters often find themselves on the defense against nature’s wrath. In celebration of Earth Day, an annual event in support of environmental protection, we’re looking back at some of the best eco-horror movies that remind us to take care of our planet… or else.
Here are ten eco-horror movies to watch this Earth Day.

Found footage horror films have masterfully burrowed their way into the heart of the horror genre, compelling us to peek between our fingers at the screen as they blur the line between fiction and unnerving reality, whispering, “Could this actually happen?” With their handheld chaos and too-close-for-comfort storytelling, these cinematic gems have redefined what it means to be truly scared, proving that sometimes, the most terrifying monsters are those that feel like they could be lurking just outside our windows. If you’re ready to unearth some tapes, we’ve dug up 10 found footage horror movies that master the art of realism, each so convincingly crafted you might just find yourself double-checking those locks tonight.
From ghastly ghouls to paranormal activities, these films utilize hand-held chaos to bring their terrifying tales to life. But what sets them apart? Their unnerving knack for making the absurd feel utterly believable. Forget high-budget...

The early days of the pandemic were like living in some unholy vortex. Stores were indefinitely shuttered. The streets were eerily abandoned. And the threat of Covid lurked around every corner. While it has been four years since those rudimentary times, and we’ve returned to some normalcy, the danger still exists in hushed whispers and the shadows that line our periphery. When I recently reflected back upon 2020, I couldn’t help but recall a pair of apocalyptic-style films that perfectly capture the paranoia and the fear that an outbreak breeds – Barry Levinson’s The Bay and John Erick Dowdle’s Quarantine.
Mutilated bodies, shared delusions, and guttural terror. I shudder to think about the last four years of living. What could have lasted only a few weeks – remember when the lockdowns were expected to last just a fortnight? – turned into four years lost. The mere notion that the pandemic...

Actor Andrew Buchan makes his screenwriting debut with ITV thriller Passenger, and here’s the trailer.
Andrew Buchan is probably best known for playing grieving father Mark Latimer in Chris Chibnall’s whodunnit Broadchurch. He has also played the title role in drama The Fixer, as well as parts in films like Nowhere Boy, All The Money In The World and The Mercy.
He now makes his screenwriting debut with ITV thriller Passenger.
The synopsis reads as follows:
Riya (Loki star Wunmi Mosaku) arrived in the quiet town of Chadder Vale five years ago and has since been searching for something, anything that will make her feel alive again. Then one night local girl Katie Wells (Rowan Robinson) mysteriously disappears. The town barely has time to register her absence before she reappears the next day, apparently safe and sound. The townsfolk ask few questions and normal life resumes. But for Riya,...

Having been off-screen since at least July 2023, “General Hospital” actor Réal Andrews recently took to Instagram to share an update on his status at the daytime drama series, informing fans that it’s up to them as to whether the show will bring him back as Marcus Taggert.
When viewers last saw Taggert, he was on a downward spiral after learning that the daughter he believed to be his was, in fact, someone else’s through a separate relationship Portia (Brook Kerr) had with Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner). Despite Trina (Tabyana Ali) going through the most in the months since Taggert last appeared on-screen, including the presumed death of her first love, Spencer (Nicholas Chavez), one would think it was time for the character to make his return to the canvas, and possibly play out yet another twist of parental lineage.

Two special episodes of The Bay are coming up next week that give some insights into the characters of Adam Kenway (Kristos Andrews) and Caleb McKinnon (Mike Manning). The show’s current story is put on hold while the action shifts to not only the past but also to Terracina, Italy (a seaside town about an hour outside of Rome), and we have an exclusive first look in the promo above! “This is three years before either [Adam or Caleb] arrived in Bay City,” The Bay executive producer, director, and writer Gregori Martin tells TV Insider. “This is the origin story of Adam and his nefarious ways. John Blackwell has sent a woman to seduce Adam and get some information from him.” Caleb also gets a romantic entanglement, which sets the stage for his coming out. “The story digs into Caleb and why he was afraid to be who he is,” Martin explains.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced the winners of the 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards during an in-person ceremony, hosted by Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner (whose show won the prize for best entertainment news series), that aired on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.
ABC’s General Hospital led with six wins, including for best daytime drama series.
The Kelly Clarkson Show won its second consecutive Daytime Emmy for best daytime talk series, as did Clarkson for best daytime talk series host.

Camden Toy, the versatile character actor famed for playing a succession of demonic monsters on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has died. He was 68.
Toy died Dec. 11, after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer, his representatives confirmed in a press release.
Often caked under layers of makeup as well as special prosthetics, Toy would be unrecognizable for many of his most well-known turns on Buffy and later Angel, playing one of the Gentleman, the Prince of Lies and the demon Gnarl among others, but his unmistakable physical acting would rank him and close friend Doug Jones as firm fan favorites.
“This is hard,” Jones tweeted on Wednesday. “So many memories including working together, decades of laughing, sharing mutual friends, get-togethers, travel, conventions, and huggles with each other and our fans. From Buffy on, 24 years blessed to have this friend. May he rest in God’s peace.”

Warning: This article contains Major Spoilers for all six episodes of Payback
Now we’ve streamed all of ITV’s latest crime thriller Payback on Itvx, we’re really going to miss being thoroughly confused, because its six mega-twisty episodes kept us guessing right to the end.

In fact, the only questions we’ve got are: how did they manage to make financial crimes so exciting? How was Cal so terrifying, and yet so unfathomably likeable? And – after she spent all six episodes wearing a distinctive olive green number – does Lexie not own more than one coat?

Avatar filmmaker James Cameron will executive produce Taonga, a Maori-centric drama from actor and first-time director Shane Rangi.
Rangi, who worked with Cameron on the Avatar movies, which were shot in New Zealand, wrote the script and will direct the feature that has the backing of Fandomodo Films, a boutique development, production and financing company that seeks to raise underrepresented voices.

Many of those realities were a lifetime ago for Rangi, who managed to drag himself out of those dire straits to become an actor and stunt performer on major Hollywood productions that shot in that part of the world.

Hot on the heels of “vengeful orca summer” comes The Swarm, a new sci-fi drama that wonders — and then giddily illustrates — what would happen if all forms of marine life decided they had had enough of humans destroying their environment. It’s kind of like The Happening, minus the clueless lead, or Barry Levinson’s 2019 eco-horror film The Bay, which will absolutely ruin seafood for you.

Andrea Evans, the popular soap opera star known for her turns as Tina Lord on ABC’s One Life to Live and Rebecca Hotchkiss on NBC/DirecTV’s Passions, has died. She was 66.
Evans died Sunday at her home in Pasadena after a battle with breast cancer, casting director Don Carroll told The Hollywood Reporter.
Evans came to fame by playing Tina — People magazine nicknamed her “Daytime’s Diva of Dirt” — on One Life to Live from 1979-81 and from 1985-90. However, she had to abruptly quit the soap after a stalker accosted her in the lobby of the show’s Manhattan studio in 1987 and later sent her death threats, some of them written in blood.
The fear “forever changed me. There’s no way it could not,” she told People in 2008.
