Going forward, the 9 a.m. hour of NBC’s “Today” is likely to be more about the show than the anchors who host it.
With Megyn Kelly in discussions with NBC about her future at the network, media-buying executives say they expect the Peacock to return the third hour of its morning franchise to a more traditional format. Gone is “Megyn Kelly Today,” and in its place, well, “Today,” the TV brand that has been associated with morning TV since the middle of January in 1952. One ad buying executive suggested NBC could make an announcement in the near future regarding talent for the hour and indicated the network would likely position the move as “a host change within the ‘Today Show’ line-up” rather than a cancellation of Kelly’s program.
“’Megyn Kelly Today’ is not returning,” NBC said Friday. “Next week, the 9 a.m. hour will be hosted by other ‘Today’ co-anchors.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit’s rousing live performance of “Hope the High Road,” Old Dominion’s confectionary “Make It Sweet” and Mary Bragg’s brokenhearted “I Thought You Were Somebody Else” are among the 10 country and Americana tracks you must hear right now.

This Heartland rocker first appeared on last year’s The Nashville Sound, but it hits its stride here, in a live version performed during Isbell’s annual residency at the Ryman Auditorium and recorded for the...

In a hall outside Denmark’s biggest TV studio, sat inside the imposing, glass-fronted "Dr City" headquarters of the state-funded broadcaster just a short taxi ride from central Copenhagen, a nervous group of musicians is waiting for their potential make-or-break moment.
The 30 or so — some of whom perform vocal exercises, others simply psych themselves up — are a diverse bunch, ranging in ages from the late teens to the 30s. Some lurk in groups and clutch guitars or drumsticks, while others prepare alone, instrument-free. The outfits also differ wildly — there are as many in elaborate costumes ...

Banijay, the European superindie that owns Keeping Up With The Kardashians producer Bunim/Murray, has found itself in the middle of its own dramatic reality series in recent months after emerging as one of the frontrunners to buy Big Brother and Black Mirror rival Endemol Shine.
Most companies would hide under the covers until a deal is either done or the gossip has subsided. However, Banijay, which has 61 production labels in 16 countries, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month and, as such, CEO Marco Bassetti is doing the rounds to blow out as many candles as possible.
“I can’t comment on something that there are so many speculations on,” the former Endemol Group President Bassetti inevitably told Deadline.
However, he does address the general need for scale in the international TV business and admits that it is looking at opportunities for consolidation. “We believe that we will be in...

Bianna Golodryga has filled in at the desk of “CBS This Morning” so many times in recent months that when she recently woke up and saw the show on TV, she feared she had overslept. “Had I slept in?” she asked. “It has felt so natural to be there.”
No more questions about alarm-clock settings. Golodryga was named the show’s fourth co-anchor this week – just the latest in a recent parade of tweaks to the nation’s big morning programs. Once a place where the same hosts would greet viewers each day ad infinitum –Joan Lunden held forth on ABC’s “Good Morning America” for 17 years – A.M. news shows in this era make changes nearly every few months.
At a time when consumers are just as happy to reach for their smartphone for news as they are for the TV remote, the shows can’t afford to stand pat.
