No-nonsense US cop Bill Hixon arrives in Boston, UK with his teen daughter Kelsey to be the town's new police chief. When a severed female head is found during a stakeout, he and his assistant, Muriel Yeardsley, investigate.

Hixon becomes annoyed with the latest viral hit, a local amnesiac street piano player dubbed Piano Man. When the man gets accused of being a dangerous armed robber, the Boston Bandit, Hixon tries jogging his memory to find the truth.

Hixon suspects that a notorious uncaught burglar who targeted homes of the elderly years before is back and ready to kill, so he asks the man's troubled daughter to help him find him. He also investigates why Kelsey's school suspended her.

Bill is pulled into a bitter feud between two rival farmers when a body is found between their properties. Kelsey makes a friend.

Suspicion falls on members of the immigrant workforce after a suitcase containing the body of a farm owner is pulled from the river.

A spate of gruesome nail-gun murders puts Bill on the hunt for an old hitman-turned-Crown witness, now in hiding.
