Dieu seul me voit
(1998)

Wonderful!
A wonderful, hearty and amusing french comedy with excellent actors and actresses. Sometimes it reminds you a little bit of Woody Allen, but it is not that intellectual after all. If you want to have real fun at the movies, go see this film!

Plätze in Städten
(1998)

Great Atmosphere!
Some people may find this movie boring, but if you have found an entrance into this film you'll love it! Sure, it's not for the "normal" movie goer who wants to have fun. In the contrary: You will be almost depressed after this one. If you are the melancholic type than this is a must see for you! One can also say: This is a song of Portishead as a movie.

Requiem für eine romantische Frau
(1999)

Great!
A long time we waited for a good historical movie from Germany. Here it is finally. Costumes, Art Direction and Cinematography are excellent. But the acting performance of the newcomer Janina Sachau is even more brilliant. This woman has a future. This film is a must for romantic movie fans.

23 - Nichts ist so wie es scheint
(1998)

Very entertaining
A very entertaining suspense movie from Germany. If you love the X-Files you'll like this one too. It gives a lot to think about! I'm also sure we'll see the well playing young actors again soon in another movie.

A Price Above Rubies
(1998)

Against religious fanatism and for emancipation
A moving film about religious fanatism (and not against Jewry) and emancipation with convincing actresses and actors. Very recommendable!

Sostiene Pereira
(1995)

Solid Work
A quite good film version of the novel, though at the beginning a little bit lengthy. Fortunately there are a few funny scenes from time to time. This movie is surely not for the main stream audience - but for fans of Italian (or Portuguese) cinema, a must-see also for Mastroianni-fans.

La vie de Jésus
(1997)

Interesting :-)
This is an interesting French movie about young people, boredom, love, jealousy, and racism. From time to time the film moves from reality close to absurdity, and it leaves mostly the story behind - unfortunately.

Girls' Night
(1998)

Intense!
An intense and touching movie about two strong women! If you like that, a must-see!

Saving Private Ryan
(1998)

A complete failure of Spielberg!
This movie is a technically perfect one. But that's all! The story is unbelievable. Only pictures and sound show the cruelness of war. The actors and the script fail to convince you of the pointlessness of it. Sorry, but this movie is a complete failure! What the hell have Spielberg done here???

Conte d'automne
(1998)

A great example of French cinema
The concluding work of the season cycle is a great example of French romantic comedy, but it does not act cursory. It is even interesting for the main stream movie goer although the movie takes a little time at the beginning to get into the plot.

Dance of the Wind
(1997)

A spiritual movie for fans of Indian cinema
An extremely spiritual movie living mainly from its Indian music which emanates an utmostly quiet serenity. Although the story has some lengths now and then the true fan of Indian cinema will enjoy this movie. Other movie goers will most likely have problems with this film.

Die tödliche Maria
(1993)

Greatly filmed!
The first work of Tom Tykwer shows several qualities that have been brought to perfection in "Lola rennt" ("Run Lola Run"). There are especially the great camera work and the intelligent editing. Unfortunately the script is somewhat protracted now and then.

¿Bin ich schön?
(1998)

A movie like the life
A movie like the life - complex, with unexpected connections, ups and downs - intelligently made. The actors are great as well, especially Franka Potente.

Firelight
(1997)

Simply Wonderful!
A wonderful photographed movie with a convincingly playing Sophie Marceau. Absolutely recommendable for fans of historical romances.

Tigerstreifenbaby wartet auf Tarzan
(1998)

A Real Independent Movie
That's what I call "Independent Cinema". Surely something for the serious movie fan who wants to broaden his horizon of German cinema.
