One of the worst films I have ever seen, the only reason I sat through it was because it was largely filmed in my home town (Skerries) and it was fun recognising the extras.

And given that that is this film's only merit, you'd be well advised to avoid it. Confused imagery of Ireland, poor acting and dodgy accents abound as do rather strangely unconvincing IRA men and various other odd characters. Do not see it (unless you come from Skerries too).

Despite a number of unfair reviews, I decided to see this film and was pleasantly surprsed. I particularly liked the surrealistic feel of some of the sequences which are sufficiently infused with humour to avoid them slipping into plain old annoying.

Others have mentioned the quality of Uma Thurman's accent. I would agree that it is rather good but the rate of her speech (and indeed Feinnes's) is sometimes a little slow. I'm not sure if this is a diction problem but it does make the repartee less involving. An alternative explanation is that the makers felt that an American audience wouldn't be able to follow that rapid fire English accent in full flow.
