Jack the Ripper
(2016)

Suspenseful and fairly enjoyable detective movie.
This is a nice little film. What I noticed about it is that it doesn't look cheap and the production values actually look quite lavish which helps to give that special authentic look of the Victorian era. I don't watch foreign films usually with the subtitles on, (I prefer them dubbed instead), but I gave this one a chance and it kept me glued on after the first 10 minutes into it. I have to commend Sonja Gerhardt's performance here, she was wonderful. She carried the whole movie so well. I think the rest of the cast does also an exceptional job. This is a pretty straightforward storytelling with the so-to-say traditional unmasking of the killer at the end. Which is nice since there are many films that leave you hanging with the unanswered questions and ambiguous endings. Also, I think this movie tries something new, it tries to differentiate itself from other Jack The Ripper stories by centering the story on the main lady character instead of just turning her a damsel in distress type of character. She is the detective and gets things done.

There's no movie that is perfect out there, but this one is just pretty good. The movie is moderately violent which is good for its subject matter, but doesn't go too crazy on the gore either. So overall, this is a decent Jack The Ripper film that will leave you satisfied.

Good adventure thriller!
This is a good movie. It had a good pace and lots of action. There are not so many movies like this one about this part of history in the Soviet Russia. I think this movie worked overall well and kept me on the edge. I liked how bounty hunters were portrayed and their way of life and cruelty. And there are a few violent deaths shown there, so movie is not for the kiddies. But to me this movie lacked solid story. It was really a simple story, but the action made up for it. I thought that the ending was good if not a bit simple.

I am a fan of Liz Boyarskaya. She did a very exceptional job as the mute girl. There's one scene you going to like boys. Oh, but I think this role was wasted on her. She can do better than this. She needs to talk in film, I don't like when she is not talking. I was waiting and thinking I knew the cliche ending is coming where she will be talking again, but surprisingly no! Elizaveta Mikhailovna, vy ochen' talantlivy, ya nadeyus' y vas eshe budet mnogo horoshih rolei!

The Dirt
(2019)

The Legends of Sex, Drugs and Rock N' Roll
This movie tells the story of the glam rock band Motley Crue. From its humble beginnings of small venues and clubs to the world tours of sold-out arenas. The story is told primarily by its bass player member Nikki Sixx and ocasionnaly by Tommy Lee, Mick Mars and Vince Neil breaking the 4th wall.

This is by far the most entertaining biopic film of any rock band in recent memory striking a good balance between comedy and drama. It's a wild ride and it's not afraid to show it. It shows a lot of partying, debauchery, drugs and sex, but also ups and downs of each band member fighting his own demons. Noone comes off here unscathed by some battle or own personal tragedy. The band's music is represented well here, showcasing their many hit songs like "Live Wire", "Shout At The Devil", "Kickstart My Heat", "Same Ol' Situation" and "Home Sweet Home". I enjoyed particularly one scene where the band was auditioning Vince Niel and in process discovered their unique sound.

This movie is what Rock Of Ages is not. It takes no holds barred, unappologetic and candid approach to tell the story of perhaps one of the greatest glam rock band in the American rock history.

Die Hard Trilogy
(1996)

Favorite movie trilogy game on PS1. 10/10 for graphics and sound at the time of the release.
I remember how great this game was when it was released. Back in those days it was really neat getting three games for the price of one. First shooting game on the disc had decent third-person shooting mechanics. I especially loved the destructable environments. Second lighgun game was hard, you needed to be fast or have a lightgun to be good at it. And I remember the third driving game which was also hard, but very fun. It had you riding in NYC streets, Central Park to defuse bombs in a timely manner just like in the movie itself!

This game is definitely very dated right now and only can be viewed for its nastalgic and artistic historical value.

Phantasm IV: Oblivion
(1998)

A big disappointment, the worst sequel!
I can't believe what I've seen. How could they do such a lousy sequel? Before, all series were so creative and scary, but in this one you get no particular action and no chills, as well as a ridiculous ending. Did they run out of money or ideas? I think both.
