Hoodlum
(1997)

Gangsta Wars in Harlem´s 40ies!
Pretty good movie with a solid plot. Bumpy Johnson the leader of the black in Harlem. Andy Garcia plays the slick and silent Lucky Luciano and Tim Roth as the loose cannon Dutch Schultz. I would rate this movie a weak 8 out of 10. There is some violence in that movie but never da´less no comparison to flicks like The KRAYS or Sugar Hill. Enjoy!

The Quest
(1996)

Van Damme´s worst movie!
This is by far VD´s worst movie. It is a cheap imitation of Bloodsport but without the blood. Van Damme should quit making movies with tournaments, we have seen a lot of them, so please VD make a movies with other better stories. Total waste of time this flick!

Starship Troopers
(1997)

Shooting those bugs is a pleasure!
This movie ain´t got major actors/actresses in it, but that´s another thing. I really liked ST because of its SFX and splatter scenes with that bugs. That Denise Richards is one cute actress, maybe one of the best looking in the biz. It´s a typical US-Movie, almost with a touch of a persiflage. I thought this had to be a B-Movie, but it´s all except that, check it out i would rate it 8 out of 10.

Bang
(1995)

Quite good independent movie!
Well, you can´t say really it´s a B-Movie, more a good solid independent flick. Mainly the scenes are from the streets of L.A, the good and the bad parts. The main actor is this Asian-heritaged woman, who got the clothes from a police-officer and following that she cruised around with his bike, diving so to speak into L.A´s street life, with its gang-shooting, relationships, homelessness etc. A bit sad but also it got humour in it. Quite recommended!

Dante's Peak
(1997)

Exciting how Mother Nature does damage!
One of the most dramatic and exciting movies I have ever seen. This movie got so many near-death-scenes, it´s really a stunner. The volcano slowly but surely erupts in that flick, but the highlight is the lava-flood as Brosnan and Company try to escape with their car. Amazing movie, got to see it!

Alien Resurrection
(1997)

The 4th part of the Alien Saga, but only rated as No.3 of all!
I would rate the four Alien episodes as following:

1.Alien II 9.5 due to James Cameron and Vasquez 2.Alien due to Ridley Scott and it´s original 3.Alien Resurrection due to an immortal Sigourney Weaver and Winona Ryder 4.Alien III due to the fact that all other 3 episodes were better

I think that AR was the last Alien-episode we´re gonna see, they should stop it making further sequels, cause the consumer got enough of it and the movie makers wouldn´t produce a better episode in my book.

Nuff said.

Dawn of the Dead
(1978)

One classic Zombie movie, or call it ZOMBIES at the mall!
It´s one of the first classic ZOMBIE-movies, don´t expect that much violence in that flick. The ZOMBIES in that movie look very poor and helpless in some case, and the "people" really playin´with them sometimes. But they play a bit risky business with them, and some paying with their lives. All the scenes are from that big shopping mall, with satire all the way. Watch that one and be amused and shocked at the same time. A must for all Horror-Fans.

The Nutty Professor
(1996)

Phat humour and Eddie at his best!
This movie is one of Murphy´s funniest movies ever, again he played a lot of characters, but the best is his mother. It was horribly funny as he acted as the slim trimmed Buddy LOVE, but also i was stunned how the guys behind the scene put MURPHY together as the fat Prof. Clump. A must see for all Eddie MURPHY-fans!

Armageddon
(1998)

Armageddon is the bomb !
This is most definitely the best film in 1998, it has it all action, science fiction, drama, excitement, passion, sadness, humor! The cast is also a hammer with WILLIS, AFFLECK, BUSCEMI and all the others, you must not miss this one! Armageddon brings you very close to reality, with this meteorite that almost kills the whole earth-population. I would rate this a 9.5 out of 10.

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer
(1986)

Portrait of not only one sick individual!
Well, I expected a bit different, cause I thought the portrait of this serial killer displays only the murder himself and the crimes he committed. But what really is shown is the sideline life of his, the living with Otis, a guy who is totally nuts and his poor sister. There are better movies of serial killers, i guarantee. Also that flick got a little touch of Natural Born Killers. Not really a stunning flick!

Mean Streets
(1973)

KEITEL and DE NIRO´s early years!
This was one of Scorcese´s first major films, with two of the finest actors nowadays, De Niro and Keitel, De NIRO who plays Johnny Boy, a daredevil who really is in money trouble all the time during the movie, KEITEL on the other hand, a guy who really knows what he´s doing, with keeping his eyes everywhere. It´s a movie about little fishes in the gangsta-life of Little Italy, no really big plot, but check it out, De NIRO is awesome in this one.

La sindrome di Stendhal
(1996)

ARGENTO with one foot on the breaks!
I saw this movie and was fascinated at one hand, but overall I guess ARGENTO made this movie with one hand pulling the "handbrake", he really didn´t let it all out in this one, that was my personal impression, his daughter really got talent and she totally fitted in that flick, but overall ARGENTO made better movies and you have to be an ARGENTO-fan to love that one, or like my Austrian-Horror-Expert from the 11th district would say: These directors also made a lot of trash, you got to realize that, but that certainly wasn´t the case in SINDROME di STENDHAL!

Scream 2
(1997)

SCREAM 2 makes me scream less than the first one!
SCREAM 2 was not really a great flick, I liked the opening scene with the two getting killed in the cinema, but overall the whole plot wasn´t really meet my expectations. It was all about Sidney and her past, together with this idiotic part of the female-reporter, they should have put the role of killer more in the main spot. I wait for the 3rd part with Steve AUSTIN in it, I´ll hope it will be better, but than they should quit the SCREAM series.

Extreme Measures
(1996)

How far can medical science go?
This movie not only has got a plot, it also makes you think, how far really can surgery go? It´s not really about good versus evil in that flick. Gene HACKMAN one of my favourite actors performed very well as the professor, that took homeless people from the streets for medical surgery-experiments. Well, on the other hand you got Hugh GRANT as a young doctor, who sticks on that case, and tried to solve it in a detective-like-manner. Good movie overall, go and watch it.

Bad Taste
(1987)

This movie is pretty sick!
Well, talk about low budget, Peter JACKSON´s first flick. Don´t eat yoghurt during that movie, don´t eat sausauges with Ketchup otherwise you really got a BAD TASTE!! All I can say watch this SPLATTER-Movie and make your own opinion. I find it just damn funny! Aliens vs. Men in a 0-Civilian-Village, this is sick! NO, this is low-budget!

The Glimmer Man
(1996)

SEAGAL kinda´ brutal and coool !
I have seen all SEAGAL-movies and no doubt about that, GLIMMER MAN continues the SEAGAL-Style, which is his quick bone-breaking actions and definitely his silence and coolness. The scene where he raised some havoc in this hotel-lobby is the hammer, ending the scene where he answers this telephone call is real fun stuff. Unfortunately Keenen Ivory WAYANS didn´t really impress me, as it was in A LOW DOWN DIRTY SHAME, he was in the shadow of SEAGAL all the time. Well kinda´ brutal scenes, so check it out if you don´t find any other street-action flick in your video-store shelves.

Con Air
(1997)

One of the TOP 3 of the year 1997!
This movie has got it all, humor, a lot of action, tragedy etc. The ALL-STAR Line-up of several convicts is amazing, each and every character is a stunner, Nicolas CAGE most definitely on a rise with his latest flicks, John MALKOVICH, one fine actor as the main villain and don´t forget Steve BUSCEMI who´s also in it, made this movie a big smasher. Next time you´ll go on a plane, check the passenger´s list cause you´ll never know which crazy humanoids are on board!

Scream
(1996)

Thrilling, Chilling and Killing in times of the cellular phone!
Another modern day teenie-slasher-flick, it has plenty of scary scenes in it but the plot isn´t really creative. Couldn´t compare in any way to FULCI´s masterpiece NY Ripper or My Bloody Valentine, which are favourites of mine. The killers are amateur-like and JASON would laugh his "behind" off when he would see the acting of this 2 psychopaths. I give this movie a 7 out of 10 because we haven´t seen a slasher-film a long time and because of Wes CRAVEN as director making it really gripping.

Mission: Impossible
(1996)

Not really a STUNNER, but worth checking out!
I saw this flick and my expectations were a bit higher, CRUISE played this agent whose opening mission was ambushed and now he had to do things on his own way. Well the only thing that saved this movie was the final scene with the helicopter in the tunnel, chasing the train, but I guess you have to like the TV-Series, before you really like this one. No humor in it, too, but the cast is quite colourful instead.

Face/Off
(1997)

You can change money, cards or figures, but do NOT change faces!!
This flick is one of the highlights of 1997, I liked Nicolas CAGE more as the good guy and TRAVOLTA as Castor Troy, well it´s a tasty matter but the movie gut furious action, sense of humor and definitely tension on and on. You really get into it seeing it, when 2 totally different people changed, just because of rippin´of their faces. Really unique content I never saw such similar stuff to that flick. You must not miss that one, I would give that movie a 9.5 out of 10.

Jingle All the Way
(1996)

ARNIE makes us laugh again!
Well, this movie is just for the toy-fanatic kids. The most funny scene in this flick is when the two TOY-store assistants makin´ fun out of ARNIE and SINBAD, due to the fact that the TURBO-MAN-doll is sold out a long time ago, this scene is hilarious. Overall it´s a chasey action-sequenced comedy with a high flying end when ARNIE performed as TURBO-Man at the parade. KIDS, check it out, cause even your DAD can be your TURBO-Man.

Knockin' on Heaven's Door
(1997)

Isch weiß, diese Film is gut Mann !!
This was the best EUROPEAN movie in 1997, no doubt about that. Til SCHWEIGER, i must call him the Brad PITT of GERMANY really performed well in his role as the tough guy, who really don´t give a damn. Despite the sadness, that both main characters are infected with deadly diseases, it really took me to laugh for several times. It has a touch of PULP Fiction and Natural Born KILLAZ in it. The only difference to that, there´s no blood in it, makes it more realistic. The funniest part is ABDUL, one half of the gangster-duo, watch him and his broken german language. Overall a great entertaining movie made by a german team.

Men in Black
(1997)

Now Mr.SMITH is cool, but what about Mr. JONES ?
I´ve seen MIB and I found it quiet cool. Will SMITH cool as always but Tommy Lee JONES is quite cooler overall. The Alien Animations, especially the ones of the big bug were really astonishing. I really look forward seeing the sequel of it. The song MIB is only performed at the end of the movie, that´s a little bit sad, cause I like hip-hop very much, they could have put it somewhere in the middle of it, too. But check it out, a flick you must not miss.

The Fan
(1996)

Quite good, but SNIPES and DeNIRO can do better!
When I saw the filmposter of "The FAN" first, I expected a really big smashing hit, because of SNIPES and De NIRO together in a flick must be something for the ratings. Unfortunately it was not like that, is it really so easy to invade a sports-pro´s private Life???, I don´t think so, there were no bodyguards around in the scene on the beach with SNIPES´ kid. And the scene where De NIRO killed the teammate of SNIPES´, PRIMO is also far from credibility. Well, overall it´s a quiet good movie, but don´t expect a really tension-like psycho drama compared to CAPE FEAR, for example. And why BASEBALL ?, ok, it´s a big sport in the USA, but SNIPES could also have acted as a tennis-pro, that would have been fare more realistic, cause from my experience, to get closer to Tennis-Pro´s is indeed an easy thing.

Toy Story
(1995)

Not only for children under 10 !
I saw this really cool animated movie and I really liked it. Buzz LIGHTYEAR and WOODY didn´t get along much in that movie, but together they mastered their way out of danger. I am really looking forward seeing part two of this film.

Really good animation, with almost real looking sequences, the scene with the rocket and the remote-control buggy, when BUZZ and WOODY chasing the van is really fast´n furious. Check it out, it´s worth watching it. I thought it was George CLOONEY, as the voice of BUZZ, it sounded similar, but it was Tim ALLEN.
