Savior
(1998)

A bit Outlandish!
I watched this movie hoping to expect a great masterpiece but alas, it was not even half as good as I expected. First of all, all the people saying this movie is a great war movie are blind human beings because the plot didn't make much sense. A soldier suddenly turns away his American citizenship after the loss of his family. He does some nasty killings and then all of a sudden turns into a better Samaritan than that of the Bible. The movie was okay in showing us what the refugees went through during the Serb war but on the other hand, it looks very ordinary. Most TV war movies made made for TV are far better than this..

The Great Escape
(1963)

The great movie
After my great disappointment over Apocalypse Now, I was not very enthusiastic to watch this movie. But after watching this movie, it has turned out to be one of the greatest movies I have seen about the war. It is very humorous and entertaining. the movie tells the story of some allied prisoners of war trapped in a POW camp in Germany during world warII. The prisoners eager to escape, devised a brilliant plan which I can not really explain here. All I can say is that this movie would keep you glued to your seat till the end. It's a must see movie for any movie lover.

Ambushed
(1998)

A movie about racial problems blended with good action.
This movie is generally okay but, it's not a movie I would call fantastic. The movie generally has a good plot and a bit of adequate directing. But however, the movie has a very poor setting which makes it look like a typical TV movie. On the other hand, the movie lets us see the effects of racism and corruption in our American society incorporated into a lot of thrilling action. It's a movie worth viewing when you are bored but, it's not a movie I would recommend to top action movie lovers.

Starship Troopers
(1997)

A terrific sci-fi movie.
Starship troopers was a great movie. It was a movie full of suspense, action and amazing special effects. The movie is about a group of kids from high school in the future who wish to join the Army. All of them make it to prestigious ranks in the service except Rico. Rico is later on, dumped by his girlfriend and desires to quit the force when alien bugs destroy his home town. As the battle for human freedom gets intense, Rico and his friends must all resolve their common differences and work together to find a solution. The movie is generally an awesome movie. It's a nice blend of 90210 with Sci-fi action.

Hamburger Hill
(1987)

The best movie about the Vietnam war.
I rented this movie without expecting much after watching Apocalypse Now. The movie turned out to be different. The movie let us see the horrors of war in Vietnam in a very realistic way. It also shows the lives of the soldiers and the racial prejudice that existed between them. The actors deserve a lot of praise for good performances. The movie focused more on character development and a clearly depicted storyline, this made the movie even more interesting. This movie is a must see for war movie lovers.

Rescue 77
(1999)

Boring.
This show was widely advertised before its final release on Monday night. This show really sucks, it's boring and unrealistic. Aaron spelling tries using cute actors and actresses, in order to lure young viewers to watch his show. But this time, it's not working as it has for his other shows. The scripts for the show are very poorly written. The actors themselves are not very good either. The show is just an unrealistic portrayal of firefighters running about unrealistically to save lives. This show has generally been one of the most disappointing shows on the WB this season.

America's Greatest Pets
(1998)

Lousy.
This is a very lousy show. It is one of the many shows which actually pulls people away from UPN. It is a stupid blend of Americas funniest videos with some stupid pets. This show, should definitely be removed from primetime on Fridays if UPN ever wants to get viewers to watch their station.

Amistad
(1997)

A great movie.
In this movie, the director tries to capture the emotions of the movie watcher. The costumes are a bit overdone, but the directing, the script and the acting of this movie are all spectacular. Morgan Freeman, Djmon Hansou and Anthony Hopkins all put up very strong performances towards this great tale of slavery and survival during the mid 19th century. The picture and the cinematography are so well done in fact, I actually felt I was present in the movie. It is a masterpiece with a touch of class.

Dying to Live
(1999)

A better movie than most teenage movies.
This movie, blended a mixture of ghost and the 1999 Hollywood craze of teenage movies. The plot is simple, but the movie is well acted and also very interesting. Although it is a TV movie, it is better than most of this year's cinema releases. This movie shows a great improvement in the making of television movies this decade. WELL DONE PARAMOUNT!!!!

Platoon
(1986)

A great war movie
Platoon is the best war movie I have ever seen about the vietnam war. The film lets you see the horrors of the war through the eyes of a young G.I( Charlie Sheen). The movie script is well written and in addition to this, it is well directed. This movie also shows that the quality of a war movie does not have to be enhanced, with excess graphic violence. This movie to me, happens to surpasses the much talked about Apocalypse Now. It depicts a strong story of how the Vietnam war affected the lives of many American soldiers.

When Trumpets Fade
(1998)

A true war masterpiece
I was very reluctant to see this movie on hearing it was made for TV.After watching this movie, it has turned out to be one of the best war movies I have ever seen. The story captures the horrors of world war II better than Saving Private Ryan and The Thin Red Line. Below average war movies such as Apocalypse Now (which has been rated highly) are no match to this great war epic.

Glory
(1989)

Bravo!?!?
This was a fantastic and well directed movie about the civil war. Everything in the movie balances to a perfect finish. Matthew Brodrick, Morgan Freeman and most especially Denzel Washington are all outstanding. the movie has absolutely no fault. It can also be said to be very touching for some people and at the same time very entertaining. This movie is certainly a must see movie in the war genre. *****************

Apocalypse Now
(1979)

A movie that makes a big deal out of trivial information.
This movie, picked a meaningless segment of the vietnam war and made a big deal out of it. The movie even depicts playboy entertaining soldiers in vietnam, which I felt had nothing to do with the film. The film might have had one or two good action scenes But on the contrary, the plot is generally a foolish one for a war movie. I was even surprised to see people calling this movie a war masterpiece. It had absolutely very little to tell about the vietnam war.
