The Long Ride Home
(2003)

A refreshing movie in this day and age.
I have seen several critical reviews of this movie. However, I purchased it based on the actors involved in the movie. I was pleasantly surprised that, my opinion, it was a good movie. Not a swear word was used in the movie - very refreshing to me. Far better movie than much of the "ilk" coming from the Left Coast these days.

MASH
(1970)

Too silly and condescending.
I recall seeing this when it first came out and recall not particularly liking it at that time. I decided to pick up the dvd, figuring a look back at the movie might "feel better" to me. It didn't. While there were a few funny scenes, I found it to be mostly silly and somewhat condescending on the field hospitals during the Korean War. If you feel the need to see this movie, I recommend a "rental", not a "buy".

The Night They Saved Christmas
(1984)

One of the better holiday films.
A thoroughly enjoyable holiday film. It has become one of my favorites. Having a VHS copy of this movie, I pull it out every year to watch it. Only wish it were available on DVD. It would be a definite buy for me. If you can find a copy of this movie, be sure and watch it. **** out of ****

The D.I.
(1957)

Excellent Depiction of MCRD Parris Island in the 50's
I went through boot camp at MCRD Parris Island in 1953 and this film is about as accurate a depiction of what boots went through in that era, even to burying that danged sand flea. Many of the "actors" in the film were active duty Marines. This film may be more entertaining to Marines than others, but I feel the film itself is very well done, and Jack Webb made a "good DI". Semper Fi!

Feet of Flames
(1998)

Excellent Update of Lord of the Dance
I thoroughly enjoyed the film Lord of the Dance when it was released. I later saw the live show in Oklahoma City, OK and enjoyed that presentation as well. I then had the opportunity to get the VHS tape of Michael Flatley: Feet of Flames. I noted that he used the same performers as in the original Lord of the Dance. It was also quite apparent that the overall performance of those same performers was substantially better than the original. The added numbers were a definite bonus to the film. I highly recommend Feet of Flames to anyone that likes musical shows.
