+1 -1
(1987)

Clever and off Beat Animated Short
Although there will always be comparisons abound (Its a Wonderful Life, Butterfly Effect) Guido Manuli's film +1-1 offers a very simple and off beat approach to the whole notion that one persons worth to the world in their existence can matter greatly in how the world evolves and changes. About the only difference I can see between Guido's film and a film like Its a Wonderful Life, is that the world was no better or worse off without the main character but rather as is stated at the very end, different. If one historical figure or another hadn't existed then someone else might have taken said figures role in history. the short was very entertaining nonethless and had a very catchy soundtrack that worked well with the prgressive nature of the film. overall I'd rate it a 7.5 out of 10.

The Matrix Reloaded
(2003)

Matrix ReBloated
In all fairness a sequel should be as innovative or more innovative than the first. This is not the case with the Matrix reloaded. Unlike other sci-fi sequels of the past (Aliens, Terminator 2)this movie serves as a filler a-la Back to the Future style. It relies heavily on you having seen the first one and really needing to see the third one. This movie tries to play itself off sort of like a TV series and ending abruptly like an episode of the X-files. The special effects are simply CGI effects teams masturbating on film. One fight sequence in particular involves Neo fighting a massive amount of Agents for no other reason than to fight and show off camera work and effects (never once explaining to the audience why he didn't just fly away). The movie suffers for its lack of common sense and inability to stand alone as a movie. Bottom line here is, if a sequel, nevermind how well crafted it is, cannot stand alone as a movie by itself, then it fails no matter how remarkable the visual content is.

Cube
(1997)

Decent movie
Cube was definitely interesting but even with a good approach, interesting plot and fair acting it was all undermined by a bad ending in fact one might even go as far as bringing up similar dissapointments from the past such as Screamers or Alien 3. The movie gains a lot from its approach but suffers in the end. All in all worth a watch but be advised you may or may not entirely agree with the ending.

Event Horizon
(1997)

One of the last true scary movies
Event Horizon was not only scary but original. Although it is reminiscent of movies like Alien it has a uniqueness to it that is unmatched (I'll bet Alien wasn't nearly as terrifying). Event Horizon was put together well and my only complaint is that the people who created the film should have elaborated more on what specifically happened to the ship. It does touch on the topic but it is generally left up to the viewers opinions on whether the ship was haunted or alive. All in all I would have to give it a nine on sheer fear content alone. The last movie to scare me this bad was the Exorcist.

Alien³
(1992)

Alien 3 is a disappointment
All I have to say as a big fan of the Alien movies is that David Fincher was a terrible Director and the writers were not exactly thinking straight when they put out this horrendous flick about how a bunch of prison inmates "didn't" get attacked by an alien. You'll notice that throughout the movie there are 10-15 ,hell even 20-25 minute gaps where the alien isn't even on the screen. At least the first Alien movie kept the victims high while presenting a mysterious mood by having the alien appear randomly and unexpectedly.Aliens on the other hand made the viewer feel pity for the soldiers that died because we knew so much about them. Alien 3 was cold and dark and because the characters were never formally introduced we as the viewer didn't know who was getting killed nor did we care. The emotion of the movie was silent and the beginning as well as the ending was bitter.
