Experiment in Terror
(1962)

Good thriller, fine cast
This is a thriller in the old definition of the genre. The unbearable situation is unbearable for us too, without resorting to over the top action and histrionic performances. Its implied menace keeps us involved to the end. A good watch. For those interested in trivia, I was a longtime friend of the daughter of actor Ross Martin, who many of us remember as Artemus Gordon in the Wild Wild West series. She told me that when her father learned that part of Red Lynch's menace was his asthmatic voice, he searched, as good actors do, for something that would evoke menace in an instantly recognizable way. After some thought, he decided to imitate the menacing hiss of a cougar. We both thought he made the perfect choice.

Choose
I enjoyed the film. The acting was good, the effects believable and the underlying message important.

I want to urge people who visit this site in order to decide whether or not to watch a particular film to concentrate on the subject, the director, the actors and the writers. If some or all of those intrigue you, go for it. Pay as little attention as possible to the reviewers' remarks and opinions as they are often misleading and/or wrong. Do not let them sway you. Respect the time and effort people have put into creating the films and form your own opinions.

Endangered Species
(2021)

Disappointing
Though the production values were decent and the acting was acceptable, the story was trite and predictable from one minute to the next. I won't go into examples because that would necessarily add spoilers and, in any case, there are just too many of them to list. Additionally, most of the animals that were the main characters driving the story line were so noticeably computer generated they weren't believable at all. I expected more from this but was extremely disappointed. Not recommended.

Proximity
(2020)

Curious aliens
Just a few words to tell you what to expect if you're thinking about giving this a try. The acting is good, the effects are well done and believable and the story, for the most part, is interesting and scientifically accurate. The point of the nearly two hours becomes clear at the end and, for me, destroys the movie: Aliens have been interested in humans for centuries because they want to learn more about Jesus. Hope this helps you decide.

A Vigilante
(2018)

A missed opportunity
I've given this a 3 because, while the subject matter and the points being made are important, the methods used are questionable and therefore weak. Some parts of the movie went on far too long. Others were cut short or presented in a way that was confusing. And, I'm sorry to say, the writer/director painted a picture of a world where few males were sympathetic or worthy of any respect, outside of Sadie's 2-dimensional lawyer and the 10 year old "Zach." Abused women do sometimes see all males as predators. I can understand that and I find no fault in it. However, that outlook makes for a bad movie, such as this.
