Regarding Henry
(1991)

So recognizable
I'm so tired of movies that equate success with a lack of compassion for human beings and thus broken homes. And of course, it's always the husband. And of course, he always is highly paid and having a great time except he's missing that one thing. And of course, it takes some tragic/horrific/profound/earth-shattering event to make him realize the error of his ways and blah blah blah he's that great person on the inside that he always could have been. It's been done so many times and people continue to waste their money on this garbage.

28 Days Later...
(2002)

Was one of the zombies doing the camera work?
Tedious. This movie had the potential to be so much more than it came out to be. The camera-work was so annoying, the direction was pretty pitiful and the story was boring. The idea of a "rage" disease wiping out the human race, leaving a few survivors is interesting - but instead of fighting off zombies, why not add something about reconstructing the human race, rebuilding society? It's as though the writer started off with a point, but decided to transform it into a horror film and somewhere in between ran out of money. And if he was going to make a horror movie - do it right! There were so many instances where audiences are relaxed and not expecting a zombie (sorry, an infected) to jump out and attack; instead it's as though the director wants to show you when one is coming so you can brace yourself by showing a shaky camera running at a victim. The music also made no sense - terrifying sequences usually don't involve a guitar and drum background. I'm sure most would agree that the 3 sequences that occur in the last five minutes leave a lot of unanswered questions; though by that point I could have really cared less. I give this a 6/10 only because the acting was quite good.

William Sexspeare's 'Much Ado About Puberty'
(1997)

A fantastic look at another Sexspeare "masterpiece"
A wonderful film. I really enjoyed the obvious parody about "much ado about nothing." As a Professor of English at Corinth in Jersey, I was extremely impressed with how closely this parody matched the actual play it was based upon. As a Shakespearean scholar myself, I could not believe that the director took the time to go over this. Although at some points I was a little confused at the senseless nudity - and the continual "oh daddy oh" screams, I think it is definitely one of the finer films to come out of Hollywood (or someone's basement on a home camcorder) in years. Don't miss it!

Return of the Killer Tomatoes!
(1988)

Watching paint dry is a more practical use of time
This movie was absolutely ridiculous. It started off as being confusing and got progressively worse. The acting is awful (save George Clooney's performance) and the script is inane. The effects are so poorly done that it makes one ponder whether or not this movie was made with a budget. There were many loose ends, although I will acknowldedge that this may have been the way this movie was intended to be written. Don't rent it; unless you have absolutely nothing else to do.
