Ahsoka: Part Five: Shadow Warrior
(2023)
Episode 5, Season 1

The Soul of Star Wars
One of the best hours of Star Wars ever for those who have been on the entire ride. The relationship between Skyguy and Snips is stregthened.

Filoni has taken the soul of Star Wars to new heights. I recently read that Filoni said that Star Wars should ultimately be uplifting. This episode followed that mantra.

Ahsoka through the first four episode was a brooding, lost soul, but after her experiences in this episode, she is again the optimistic free spirit we all have grown to love.

The force is strong in this one and I can't wait to see where this story will take us!

Filoni is indeed the torch bearer of the future of Star Wars.

Texas Red
(2021)

Deep South Western
It's interesting to me how broad the Western genre can be. In this case the film is based on the true story of Texas Red. Even though it takes place around 1940 in the Deep South, it still feels like a Posse Western, and still challenges our views of civil rights. This is well shot and directed. Several actors like Burnside, Johnson, and Hall give believable, emotional performances.

Bastard's Crossing
(2021)

Desperate times... Desperate measures...
The first western in the 12 Westerns in 12 Months project kicks things off. The movie is well made with some good performances. I loved the slow burn of Cam Talcutt. There were quite a few tense moments, and I was always wondering how far will Cam go to make it. Ward Emling gives a believable performance, and Ashleigh Lewis has a great presence. Creek Wilson brings another charismatic performance.
