Better Things
(2016)

Brilliant - one of the best shows on TV
The first two seasons are fabulous - raw, honest, poignant. It's a really refreshing look into motherhood. I also like how queer friendly the themes in the show are...it's a show I feel proud to watch with my daughter.

Sole Survivor
(2013)

A thoughtful, gentle look at survivor's guilt
I was worried this film might be "crash " and if one is expecting that, they're going to be disappointed by this film. For me, this film was a deep, sensitive sociological experience - understanding and almost FEELING what it would be like to survive something (unscathed) where everyone else around you dies. It's something so hard to comprehend and it's a film that could have been totally distasteful in the wrong hands - exploitive, intensive, etc. This film is none of those things and you can feel, when watching it, how much the subjects trusted and respected the film crew and vice versa.

Zero Weeks
(2017)

Never thought paid leave would be interesting - the movie is fabulous
Never in a million years would I think a film about paid leave would be compelling enough to keep my attention for a full 90 minutes. This film is really thorough in laying out a case that will outrage you (if you're an American) and inspire you to make change. I always thought this was a topic that mattered mostly to moms and parents but I'm wrong. This is about seniors and single people - almost more. It's a must see.

The City That Sold America
(2019)

Insightful, fascinating!
For lovers of history and culture, this is a must see. It's short and informative - yet extremely entertaining and enlightening. You'll never see advertising or Chicago in the same light again.
