Sense8
(2015)

Good concept with a vivid range of characters
Loved the characters, so diverse and from all parts of the world, different cultures and different capabilities all connected in some way. There's plenty for everyone, action ,drama, romance, sci-fi. I liked that the show does hurry in revealing the villains, instead it takes times to establish it's characters and let's the audience get to know them first before introducing the villain. The background story on each character is well formed with constant flashbacks to ensure that viewers understand the depth of the characters. Overall I would say lot of effort is made. The cat and mouse chase later adds to the excitement. Music is also good and pleasing. They even added a bollywood song and dance which I guess many westerners might enjoy. Season 1 was very good, waiting for the next season now.

Rush
(2013)

One of the best movies f 2013
Fast paced racing thriller. The ups and downs of the two main characters are well portrayed. The rivalry between James and Niki was unknown to people like us who don't really follow F1 that much. The rivalry shown has such an electrifying effect that you wish you had such a rival so that the best in you can come out.

The casting of both the characters are an excellent choice as well. Both look very similar to the real characters. Attention to detail is impressive.

Overall, direction, cinematography, special effects are all of top quality. A must watch for all irrespective of whether you are a F1 fan or not.

Kim Bok-nam salinsageonui jeonmal
(2010)

Waiting for more from this director
This review might seem a bit partial as I'm a big fan of Korean movies. The revenge genre has been over used in Korean cinema yet this movie doesn't fail to stand out. The scenic village location and the 2 lead female characters work well in this film. The men and old ladies are so hateful that when Bok-nam's daughter dies and she looses control and starts the killings, you don't feel sorry for anyone. It just feels right. The pain and humiliation suffered by Bok-nam and the sexual forcing of her brother-in-law on her makes you cringe. Also, the suggestion that Bok-nam's husband might be abusing his step-daughter will make you feel sick to the stomach. But the revenge seems more than just. Though Bok-nam travelling to the city in search of Hae-won was bit of an overstretch. But nevertheless, overall it's an wonderfully made revenge drama. 9/10.

Laid back comedy-romance with good eye candy
Fast forwarding the movie for a few minutes made me pause and look at Ye-jin Son for several seconds. I'd no idea about the movie but had taken a liking towards Korean cinema after My Sassy Girl. That was one of the best movies i'd ever seen.

So I decided to give this one a go. The movie left me pleasantly surprised. I mean sure, it had lots of flaws and some scenes ended abruptly. But the over all flow of the movie made up for it. As I mentioned earlier Ye-jin Son is the main highlight of the movie. I can't even pronounce her name and yet am a fan already.

To a certain extent the girls character is similar to My Sassy Girl. But the difference is that the guy is smarter here.

The movie doesn't bore you and there are plenty of good scenes to keep you smiling. The acting and cinematography is good. The side characters are also funny.

Overall a must watch esp. for non-koreans.

The Man from Earth
(2007)

Tell a lie enough times and people will start to believe it
'Tell a lie enough times and people will start to believe it' The Anti-Christian brigade seems to follow this mantra of the Nazis. First Da Vinci and now this?

It seems to be in fashion these days to abuse a religion. Outside Hollywood it's Islam and in Hollywood it's Christianity. While am not against a healthy debate, it's time for Hollywood script writers to think outside the box. Perhaps that's what the writer of this movie is doing right now in heaven(or hell perhaps).

The film is an insult esp. to the Christians in Asia & Middle East whose faith in Jesus hasn't moved despite the large scale prosecution in recent times. Indian Christians themselves are facing the worst ever anti-Christian riots by the Hindus.

Some people here say only fundamentalist will oppose this movie but then what's the need to make a quick buck by abusing the sentiments of thousands('cause thankfully only that many people must have seen this movie.) The film itself is quite engrossing and hence i'd given it a 7 but I was totally turned off by the protagonist claiming to be Jesus and reduced it to 1.

It's also an strange coincidence that the protagonist was always present at all the imp. historical times. I had to say 'aww...come on' & laugh when he claimed to meet Buddha but then he drops this bomb that he's Jesus. That was a true LOL moment.

Perhaps the director wanted something BIG to grab peoples attention (as it gets boring after a while). And who's bigger than Jesus...right?

Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na
(2008)

Excellent from start to finish
So much has already been written here about this film, in fact, there's nothing new to add for me, yet I'm compelled to write about it. This in itself proves what kind of film this is. You just need to talk about this film...with everyone.

What's to like? The music, the direction, the freshness of the characters, the cinematography, the fact that there are no aging Khans & the fact that most of the script is repeated by us while amongst our friends which makes it easy to relate with the characters.

What's not to like? Nothing...

What could have been better? The acting, but then let's not forget that most of the actors in it as new comers. So it's excusable.

If you haven't yet watched the movie stop reading this and get going.

Captivity
(2007)

Not Captivating
The only reason that I watched this movie was for Elisha. After Girl next door, I was hoping something better but was sadly disappointed.

While the first half of the movie is interesting, the second half is way too predictable. It just doesn't keep you on the edge of your seats and the director made the action look very easy towards the end.

I would rather watch the SAW trilogy again than this one. I fail to realize why there wasn't any violence shown. Apart from the initial scene there's absolutely no blood and gore in the remaining movie which left me disappointed. Now I'm not a fan of violence and gore but if you give the readers a taste you might as well take it forward.

It has it's good moments though and the acting by all actors is decent. Elisha looks hot as always.

Worth watching just once.

Love Don't Cost a Thing
(2003)

Not bad at all
I wasn't hoping much from this movie when I rented it just 'cause I had some free time to kill. I thought it might be just another teen movie. But I was pleasantly surprised.

The all black star cast makes for an interesting watch. Some of the black babes are hot and not to mention Christina Milan, she's absolutely stunning. I would watch the movie again just for her.

The plot doesn't seem very original but the script seems good. The direction is also not half bad.

The emotions involved reminds you of your own good old days. The comedy is also good and I laughed many times. Do watch this movie, it's definitely not a waste of time.

Bombay Calling
(2006)

Quite a nice Overview on the much talked about Call Center Business in India
Fascinating movie. People from abroad and India have just heard about jobs being off-shored and India taking a lead in this matter but this movie gives quite a nice overview about what the whole fuss is about. The way things move from good days to bad days is well documented. The details shown regarding the training, accent etc are very enlightening.

Sweetie as mentioned by another person here is too cute. Other employee's lives are also shown in an interesting manner. The joys, hardships & sadness is captured well by the director. Overall a must see for all those who want to know what this whole much talked about Call Center Business is all about.
