A Town Called Malice
(2023)

Don't bother
Absolutely hated this show. The annoying music played behind nearly every scene felt like a Mexican telenovela. It was distracting. Over acted and cliched characters didn't help either. Not a single character was likeable. ( I'm aware it's called acting but I just couldn't take to any of them) . However the Father and Mother of the family were the most detestable. Each child was played off each other throughout. However the beatings in front of the family were over the top. The only reason I continued (was forced) to watch it was the fantastic 80s soundtrack. Little snippets of joy. We've seen these characters before in much better shows. Gangs of London is a much better acted and written show.

My 1 rating was just for the music.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story
(2023)

Leaves you wanting more
I really enjoyed this show. It was lovely going back to see the characters in their youths and the experiences that shaped them. I really wish that the society they've created in this show actually had existed. Our world would be so much better.

For me the most touching scene was the young Brimsley and Reynolds dancing in secret in the woods and then it faded to the older Brimsley dancing alone. It made me cry.

I loved the dynamics of Princess Augusta and the young Lady Danbury sparring for their own needs.

My least favourite part of the show was actually the young King George storyline . I found the madness issues to much, especially the horrific nature of the doctor's treatment of him. I know it has to be seen, but for me it was a put off.

The Banshees of Inisherin
(2022)

Enchanting
What a lovely enchanting movie. Colin Farrell is a revelation. Barry Keoghan is a joy. I can always watch Brendan Gleeson. He always delivers. Wonderful Irish cast. It makes a joyous change to hear them speak naturally too. It's a very simple story brought to life by a tremendous ensemble.

I enjoyed the innocence of an Ireland in times gone by. However for me the natural beauty of the wild Atlantic way is the show stopper. The beauty of Ireland is breathtaking.

I have to say that the lack of traditional Irish music for me is the biggest let down though. I know this was intentional but I don't understand why.

Moon Knight
(2022)

Confusing
I just couldn't get into the split personality stuff. I found the English version of the lead irritating. I've binged watched it while I'll so at least I didn't completely waste a day. I'm glad I'm done.

Q-Force
(2021)

Hilarious
I love this show. It hits every single stereotype and I could care less. It's funny. Really funny. Watch it for the humour and not the lack of political correctness. Bring on season 2,3,4....etc.

Black Widow
(2021)

Loved it
I absolutely loved this from start to finish.

Great fight scenes.

Great car chases.

Fast paced and well acted. (just don't like Ray Winstone in anything)

Ma Rainey's Black Bottom
(2020)

Viola
This show is the Viola show. Every time she's on the screen you are drawn to her. She commands every scene. I enjoyed the ensemble cast, but for the most part but I got bored by the location. It definitely felt like a stage play that didn't really transfer to the big screen.

Them
(2021)

Terrifying
This had moments of real terror. It also became very uncomfortable to watch certain scenes, especially where the kids were involved. Episode 5 was definitely the worst. The ending for me left the whole show hanging with the possibility of a second season. The acting was great. Mixing two different genres worked also.

Snowpiercer
(2020)

Love it
I absolutely love this show. Just binged on both seasons. Sean Bean is vile and you just never ever know what he's capable of. The whole intrigue and suspense keeps you wanting more. Bring on more seasons as soon as possible please.

The Terror
(2018)

Wonderful
The acting in this was superb. From start to finish I was drawn in waiting for the drama to keep unfolding. I loved every bit of this.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars
(2008)

Excellent
From start to finish I was hooked. This for me captured the essence of Star Wars as it was a real ensemble effort. I loved the way we followed other Jedi as they all collectively faced the problems that befell them. It was good to see the Jedi expanded on.

Black Sails
(2014)

A hoot
Just got into this. Fantastic. Great cast, storyline and acting.

The Flight Attendant
(2020)

Don't bother
What a load of rubbish. I couldn't be bothered after 3 episodes. The constant flashbacks and the drinking all the time just got boring. I couldn't see where the story was going and I didn't care either.

Carnival Row
(2019)

Love it
Was super excited to see this show. I love the mix of sci fi with Victorian London. I love the costumes, make up and the scenery. Orlando Bloom is fantastic. My only criticism is the 'Irish' accents. I would though highly recommend this show.

It's a Sin
(2021)

Wonderful
This really drags every emotion out of you. I was laughing, then singing, then crying in scene after scene. It was watched in one great binge. Heartbreaking was my overwhelming emotion. Superb tv .

Fate: The Winx Saga
(2021)

Binged on this
Wasn't sure what to expect if I'm being honest. Initially I thought Harry Potter but with girls. It was a slow burner that improved as it went along. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it has certainly left me wanting more.

Wonder Woman 1984
(2020)

End of this franchise
What an awful movie. Over an hour before anything interesting happened and even then it wasn't anything special. Storyline was tedious. I think they've obviously decided not to go any further with the Wonder Woman franchise because I certainly wouldn't want to go see another movie by this crowd. Don't waste your time.

Bridgerton
(2020)

Just enjoy it
Lots of people are being negative re this show. I won't be for the most part. My main critique was the music. I didn't like it. I don't think it fitted into the timeline. I was also not enamoured by the gratuitous sex scenes. I personally don't think they were necessary. I really, really enjoyed this fictional story though. And that is what it is, a fictional story set in a specific period of history. It is not a historic retelling though. I could care less that there were black actors playing non stereotypical caricatures. The story was enjoyable. The acting good. I was left wanting more after each episode. The set designs were the stand out for me though. It was a visual treat looking at the flowers and lights that were everywhere especially during the parties. If you are looking for something to binge on then this can be enjoyed over a weekend. Enjoy it for what it is and not for what you think it should be. It is harmless fun.

Unorthodox
(2020)

Superb
This was sometimes uncomfortable to watch. I felt sorry for Etsy & Yanky equally. Both seemed equally trapped. It was superbly acted and moved at a comfortable pace. The fact that it was in Yiddish didn't even bother me one bit. I would watch this again in a heartbeat.

Lovecraft Country
(2020)

So so
I was excited to see this when I first saw it advertised. I wasn't so keen when I watched it though. I found it hard to follow for the most part. I think though what let me down the most was the lead actor, who played Atticus. I found he mumbled a lot. I held out until the last episode but that was just to see where the show went. I could care less where it goes now to be honest.

Succession
(2018)

Astounding
I absolutely never give a 10 except to this show. It ticks every box for me. Great characters who you love and hate and great acting. Fantastic.

How I Met Your Mother
(2005)

Great
Neil Patrick Harris is a genius. He steals nearly every scene. In the end I was less interested in how Ted found his wife but more interested in Barney & Robin. Superb ensemble though. Very funny.

Westworld
(2016)

Good
Good show. Lately though it's starting to lose me. I'm starting to feel disinterested in the characters. Hopefully it will pick up again.

This Is Us
(2016)

Wonderful
This show never fails in the amount of emotion it brings. Perfect ensemble. Love each and every one of these characters and only want for the best for them. Brilliant writing and acting. More please.

The Umbrella Academy
(2019)

Robert Sheehan
Robert Sheehan as Klaus for me is the best thing about this show. Overall it got better as it went on. Looking forward to a new season.
