Beaster Day: Here Comes Peter Cottonhell
(2014)

Avoid Like Myxomatosis
You hear about films like Plan 9 From Outer Space, which are so bad they're good. This film is so bad, it's crap. Seriously, the folk giving it 5 stars must be friends, relatives and cast members, as it has absolutely no redeeming features at all. The acting is abysmal. The dialogue is abysmal. The puppet rabbit looks like a child's nightmare toy from the 1950s and can barely move. Don't waste your life on this.

Wrong Turn
(2021)

Not A Remake Or Sequel
Wasn't too bad. It's not really sequel, or a remake. It's just a horror thriller about some folk getting lost, much like The Hills Have Eyes. All it shares is the same name as the 2003 film, which was closer to The Hills Have Eyes, seeing as that also featured inbred hillbillies.

In this film, folk get lost and encounter a sect/community. What happens to them afterwards, is basically their own fault.

It's not a brilliant film, but it's not a bad film. It's certainly worth a watch.

The Dead Inside
(2013)

Low Budget Zombies
This is a nice little, low budget, zombie film, that's been shot in the UK. For a low budget, the production values aren't too bad. The effects for the zombies, etc., look okay, as do the props and uniforms. The only things which do let it down, are the acting from some of the characters (who can be a bit wooden), and the script in places. Because of that, I'll need to give this 6/10. Hopefully the writers Andrew Gilbert, and Julian Hundy, will improve as they go along.

This Woods Is Cursed
(2015)

Tripe
This film is crap would be a better name for it. It's had ONE 5 star review. I bet it was by the mother of whoever squeezed it out of their backside. I made better horror films in Super8 when I was 12! Basically, some friends go camping, and after roughly 45 minutes, things start happening. To compare it to Evil Dead, is an insult. In fact they'd probably sue for damages. No shock to hear that the budget was $858.

The Unfolding
(2016)

I've Seen Better Tripe In A Butcher's Window
What's unfolding is my attention with this dross.

"An exciting and relevant new take on the Haunted House story." Who said this? Was it the mother of the writer? This film is duller than a 3W bulb. Found footage certainly isn't a new take, neither are jump scares. You get a lots of stuff happening off screen, and not a lot happening on screen.

I agree with what another reviewer said. Methinks the good reviews were written by friends and family of the cast and crew.

I ended up turning it off, so no idea if there was an amazing twist, and I don't care either.

Are they sure it wasn't meant for Shitefest instead of Frightfest? Watch something else, like Housebound instead.

Crimefighters
(2010)

This Film Is A Crime
I went to see this film, as it sounded interesting and also wanted to support independent film makers. I wish I'd gone to see something else instead.

I don't know how many drafts the script went through, but it clearly wasn't enough. The dialogue is stilted and unrealistic and a lot of the time sounds like it was made up as they went along. As the other reviewer stated, you would move away if you were sitting next to these people in real life. The plot also needed some tweaking, as the characters seemed to become crime fighters for something to do instead of go to the pub. At least Batman had his murdered parents to avenge.

The fight scenes (when they finally happened) were totally unbelievable and badly directed. I've seen better fight scenes in video games.

The acting is mediocre at best and at least one person is completely miscast. Some of the acting is so wooden in places that the actors could start a blaze if they rubbed up against each other.

This film apparently cost £7,000 to make. I think some of that should have gone to the director for glasses, as there were at least couple of scenes which were out of focus! I don't know if the director was trying to be clever, but it didn't work.

I cannot recommend this film at all, unless it's to see how not to make one. And the only reason I give it 2 stars is to hopefully encourage the director to have another go, as I'm sure that with a bit more effort this could have been a much better film. In fact it might be worth remaking at a later date, in the way that Michael Mann remade L.A. Takedown into Heat
