Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends: Rusty and the Boulder
(1998)
Episode 26, Season 5

The episode about a Giant Boulder
This episode isn't just about a Boulder chasing all the engines like Indiana Jones, it's about the mystery of this Boulder and the characterisation that he is given despite the fact that he is just a large rock

In just the first sentence of the episode we found out that Boulder likes his privacy and is frustrated by the workmen disturbing it. There are also scenes were rocks can be falling right by Boulder or where a rock lands right by Rusty which implies that he is losing his temper. And then when Boulder comes crashing down and starts chasing the engines it implies that Boulder has finally snapped and is in a fit or anger.

This episode can also be viewed as an episode about consequences, the workmen work in an area which is clearing not safe given that there is a giant Boulder which looks as if it was about to fall down at any moment and end up causing the shed to explode in a ball of flames; even the fat controller realises his mistake.

Overall this episode really is amazing and is a prime example of why Thomas & Friends will always be my favourite TV Series ever.
