Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
(2016)

For the Theatrical Cut
The first time I saw BvsS at the cinema I was disgusted: I gave it 5 stars and I confirm it.

I just saw the Ultimate Director's cut and now I'm very satisfied with this version of the film: 8* is my rating. I wonder how it is possible that such a bad version was shown in theaters.

It's the same with League of Justice: terrible theatrical version and excellent Director Cut version.

Another filler
This series abandons the classic science fiction style of the last century, full of cynicism and drama, to embrace a Disney style of gender neutrality similar to the production of the latest Star Wars movies.

This translates into characters who are physically and psychologically unlikely like the situations they face, sometimes caricatural: fat and clumsy warriors, leaders with questionable charisma, hitmen full of moral scruples, forced labor prisoners who contest the emperors.

The way this script uses quantum physics to justify whatever fantasy miracles the director inserts is puerile.

Interstellar travel as simple as airplane flights, tractor beams, teleportation: the galaxy seems to have become a pavilion in a Disney village, without danger or drama.

If I wanted to see another Star Wars I would have subscribed to the Disney portal.

Acting ranging from good to passable, photography and effects always magnificent and well calibrated.

Good season end
Strange happenings in this episode. What happened to the Invictus for keeping the Imperials out of Terminus? How could Salvor Hardin fall exactly under Gaal Dornick's boat? How can the dynasty be so careless about keeping its clones safe when they are the basis of its power?

This episode closes a season of great space opera with few other comparisons. Great visual elegance, photography, costumes, direction and good acting.

Disney stumbles again
I liked the movie, but as much as a good B movie could.

Edwards stated that the first version was 5 hours long and that he hoped for a director's cut; this makes me assume that the cuts were heavy. And the question is how is it possible that Disney could have made a mess like this, and ruined a potentially profound and splendid film with cuts. I say this by observing how the love story was compressed into a few flashbacks that suggest much else was shot, or how hasty the kiss scene was which represents the culmination of the leitmotif of the character played by Washington.

The result is therefore a film flattened on the action scenes, packaged for the average American spectator. How can we forget the very long attack on the laboratory, which recalls scenes from military films in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The very structure of the plot seems to me to be a banal transposition of the war on terrorism following the attack on the Twin Towers, where war was declared on sovereign states (first Afghanistan, and it was close to Iran too) to attack the bases of Al Qaeda to which they gave asylum.

And the fact that the little girl was not a bridge of peace that constructively resolved the conflict was perhaps my biggest disappointment with this screenplay: once again the explosion of the Death Star-like moment before it destroyed the bases of the rebellion 😂.

In short, the usual script for the average American audience, which in some ways seemed ridiculous to me.

Obi-Wan Kenobi
(2022)

Are you joking?
Remake of Laila storyline from Stars Wars movie. Obi-Wan enters a high-ranking Imperial base (like the Death Star) to rescue Princess Laila before she can reveal important secrets about the rebellion.

They are left to escape to reveal the basis of the rebellion.

The screenplay seems written by an artificial intelligence: the banal dialogues, the absurdities of the imperial protocols, of the design of a super secret underwater base whose immersed walls do not even resist a shot from a light infantry weapon; rebel fighters arriving at the station without being intercepted, without any flak.

The characters are empty stereotypical specks, despite the good quality of the cast. Obi-Wan a speck. The choreography of the fights is mediocre.

The stupidity of the latest Disney productions, managed by managers who don't like science fiction and aim only for easy money.

Give us back Andor!

The Walking Dead: Family
(2022)
Episode 23, Season 11

Not bad, but irrealistic
The political side story gives freshness to the show.

A bit of realism in the zombie bites and the battle that takes some casualties between the main characters, but the efficiency of the Commonwealth soldiers reminds me of the Imperial Stormtroopers from Stars Wars.

How is it possible that the jeep crew does not notice the zombie that climb inside the vehicle? How is it possible that a soldier inside his armor could be biten by zombies? How the zombies can climb the wall without a sentinel shot him?

A bit of realism in the zombie bites and the battle that takes some casualties between the main characters, but the efficiency of the Commonwealth soldiers reminds me of the Imperial Stormtroopers from Stars Wars.

The Walking Dead: Acheron: Part II
(2021)
Episode 2, Season 11

Stupid script
More action is always good, but this script sucks. How does Megan decide to go through the subway tunnel when closed places are always full of zombies?

Since when did you choose to give spare ammo to only one person, instead of distributing it to everyone before the mission? How are they going to fight a relentless, well-armed enemy group without enough ammunition? Why do they waste their remaining ammo on zombies, knowing their supplies are gone?

A series of idiotic choices one after another, as if they weren't experienced survivors.

Also a non-existent moral superiority for our heroes, since they would like to kill another group to rob them of supplies.

In short, a bad script in many respects.

The Witcher: The Art of the Illusion
(2023)
Episode 5, Season 3

Great show
Exceptional quality of this show, for the script, the dialogues, the representation of the characters, the costumes and the photography.

Fantasy epic at its best.

The political intrigue between the kingdoms is very entertaining and this episode is a good destination of the previous four.

It's hard to imagine this series without Henry Cavill, but the actors made up an atmospheric and rich fantasy world that deserves more seasons to be descripted.

The beaty of the costumes and the locations is a wonder for the eyes.

One of best series of Netflix for fantasy lovers. After the stop to Altered Carbon, 1889 and Daredevil, this one of the few reasons for me to stay watching Netflix yet.

The Walking Dead: How It's Gotta Be
(2017)
Episode 8, Season 8

Another superficial script
Alexandria without sentries: the enemy arrives at the gate without any resistance. But Karl fights back and saves people.

Even the Realm without sentinels.

Maggie's convoy sees the roadblock, and the soldiers prefer to stay inside the vehicles and offer a perfect target, instead of hiding in the woods and waiting and shooting the attackers: are they really survivors? Tough people used to fight or fond of the enemy's theater shows? Probably the latter, given the frequent monologues of the leaders of the Saviors.

Neegan is still alive despite being the only one keeping the Saviors together and despite repeated opportunities to kill him.

In short, another stupid episode to make viewers tremble for the fate of their favorites.

The Walking Dead: Service
(2016)
Episode 4, Season 7

Surreal script
Negan shows up at the door, ready to take a bullet to the head, and our heroes open the doors and let him and his men enter Alexandria to live as slaves and let them do whatever they want, knowing Negan is an unstable killer. . The group of our heroes has already won the worst tactical situations away from home, but they don't seem like survivors, but newbies at their first experience.

Worst script to let Negan show himself in all his villainy and all his bullying repertoire. Tens of minutes to watch this detetastable and stupid toon.

When ideas don't spown, the show must go HOME. This season is a mess.

The Walking Dead: The Day Will Come When You Won't Be
(2016)
Episode 1, Season 7

Bad script
Totally horror episode.

The protagonists continue to make absurd mistakes to build the terrible scene of carnage.

They prefer to transfer Megan to the doctor instead of bringing her the doctor. Rick prefers to move Megan on a stretcher at the cost of a huge tactical disadvantage amidst hostile territory infested with zombies and large numbers of heavily armed human enemies. Incredibly, the enemies manage to find themselves in force right on the point of their passage, and to see them at night. Our heroes choose to surrender, as did their comrades in the previous episode, even knowing that they are ruthless enemies eager for revenge.

Well all this to present us with a horrific scene of violence, which manages to stigmatize hatred for the new enemy of the public's darlings and justify a new escaletion of dehumanizing violence.

Star Trek: Picard: The Last Generation
(2023)
Episode 10, Season 3

Predictable ending for the last episode of the series.
This latest episode of the series is the predictable farewell of the production to the spectators, with all the banality that follows, and and contains all the ideas for a probable spin-off.

The Borg cube becomes the most helpless of warships, with vulnerabilities that the most inept of designers would not have introduced even by mistake.

The end of the new Borg queen Agnes Jurati remains a mystery, who just took office in the epilogue of last season, with the task of watching over the security of the galaxy.

This is followed by the saving of the Earth and the fleet.

As a fan, I thank for the wonderful, heart-warming reunion of seven Enterprise D command staff.

Star Trek: Picard: Imposters
(2023)
Episode 5, Season 3

This is the Star Trek I've always wanted to see
Great job. Another great episode, the dign successor of The Next Generation TV series: gorgeous CGI, good dialogues, drama and intrigue. Good the direction and a the script rich of events and evolutions in the relations between characters that comunicate with gazes, gestures and sinthetic phrases very related to the situations: just a good script, congratulations to authors. I waited episodes like that from the first season. Good recitation from almost all actors: perfect Picard and Beverly, good Ryker, very good the captain and Jack Crusher, and all the others.

As ever, some little inconsistencies about the Federation technology: fasers does not disintegrate the alien bodies. I hope the other episodes shall mantain this high quality level.

Star Trek: Picard: Seventeen Seconds
(2023)
Episode 3, Season 3

Wonderful !
Great job. What great episode, the best since The Next Generation last seasons: gorgeous CGI, good dialogues, ship hunt and paternity themes well managed. Good the direction and a the script rich of events and evolutions in the relations between characters that comunicate with gazes, gestures and sinthetic phrases very related to the situations: just a good script, congratulations to authors. I waited episodes like that from the first season. Good racitation from almost all actors: perfect Picard and Beverly, good Number One, very good the captain and the son of Beverly, and all the others.

As ever, some little inconsistencies about the Federation technology: a photon torpedo has more effect on enemy ship when it explodes at half way than with a direct impact; the Federation Navy's diagnostic tools of the infirmery are less accurate than a diagnostic test done with hands by a psychological councillor. At last, aliens not humanoid: good choice. I hope the other episodes shall mantain this high quality level.

Star Trek: Picard: The Next Generation
(2023)
Episode 1, Season 3

Warm first episode.
The script presents itself as a handful of typical self-celebratory scenes for the fans, a review of the performers and some unrelated plot elements consisting of situations already seen in the Trekkian saga (theft of a fleet ship to rescue a friend as in "In search of Spock", terrorist attack reminiscent of the Twin Towers) which refers to future episodes.

In conclusion, almost nothing happens in this episode and I fear for the overall quality of the script of the series, given the previous ones. The aliens are always the usual humanoids: Rambaldi is dead, but the CGI still exists.

Happy but worried.

Rendel
(2017)

Dark Finnish avenger superhero for the first time. Well done.
Ok, we saw avengers film with every sauce, from Charles Bronson's Death Wish to the Punisher and DeathPool.

Themes are the same, the Good vs the Evil that use same weapons, the violence, but the Good prevails because is Good, with infinite light declinations.

Why this film has to be considered? Because it's Finnish, because it's canonical and well designed although the poor money available, a perfect avenger comic movie.

It' qualitatively worst than USA comic movies? Yes, but few money available the result is good. I appreciated the fotographie, the customs and the "funny" old school stereotypical comic characters. The combat choreographies are few realistic but appropriately funny for a comic movie.

So, no so bad for the first time. Let they go ahead!

Titans: 51%
(2021)
Episode 7, Season 3

The script falls down
I found this second half of the script a disaster, as if the writers had lost the sense of coherence of the characters' actions: Jason goes against the Joker alone and dies; Hank knows this, but goes against RedWood alone and dies; Dick knows this, but he agrees to meet Redwood alone... men, are you kidding me?

Half of the heroes have signs of depression: Batman, Jason, Kory, Conner, Gar; the other half die or leave.

Superboy with all his powers could solve all problems by himself, no need for other Titans, but he is under employed, and others heros die, one after the other.

Jason change idea about his role in the story half million of times, and the Titans decide to accept all times Jason redemption and trust him. Half of this episode resembles to a bad copy of one of Supernatural, helped by the Italian dubbins actor of Hank, the same of Dean Winchester 😆.

Scarecrow appears depressed too, and after the last episodes, me too.

Kory is supposed to have more than an hundred of years, but she doesn't know how her telepatic connections work, and goes around tring to burn her friends, nobody other.

Blackfire is the killer of her parents, but she is saved by Kory and bringed to live in the Titans HQ, and admitted in the team!

It appears as the authors do not love so much superheros stories.

Titans: Jericho
(2019)
Episode 8, Season 2

Simply wonderful
The connections between the characters know a new life in this wonderful episode.

The characters are so well defined, motivated by past episodes, that the actions and scenes follow a perfect concatenation.

The drama of the scenes is so high, with essential and perfectly personalized dialogues and perfect fighting choreographies for duration and intelligibility, that this episode write new metrics for superhero cinecomics.

From first two episodes of this season I didn't suppose the writers could write and lead the series to a so excellent episode.

I'm sorry for my doubt, and I hope the quality shall be so well forever.

Simply wonderful.

Solis
(2018)

Not bad
Dramatic and catastrophic script, well played by main actor and the voice-over.

Nor perfectly respected the physics laws (the transmission with Terra don't count the lag for the distance), but the intention deserves respect.

The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 7: In the Name of Honor
(2022)
Episode 7, Season 1

Great finale
Big battle with a lot of fireworks: wokie, cannon robots and rancor.

Tactical dynamics and the focus on details are good.

The Magnificent Seven in Star Wars sauce.

Very well, infinite better than the last movie trilogy.

The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 6: From the Desert Comes a Stranger
(2022)
Episode 6, Season 1

Too few Boba Fett
After the previous episode where Fett doesn't appear, in this episode he speaks a line only.

The Grogu's training is very similar to Joda's and Obi Wan Kenobi's one.

I would prefer to see Fett and Fenech feats, and I regret for the way this series has taken.

They are Mando's episodes.

Star Trek: Picard: Monsters
(2022)
Episode 7, Season 2

This is not space opera
Again a ordinary plot. Good actors, good direction and photography, wasted in a boring script that has almost nothing of sci-fi.

The tour in Picard's mind remembers some episodes of Legion of Doom series. In Legion of Doom the mind tour was original and consistent with the remain of the telling.

Fourth episode wasted, in my opinion.

How could a so promising series be ruined by a bad script.

Please find better sci-fi authors and pay them more.

Such a pain.

Star Trek: Picard: Two of One
(2022)
Episode 6, Season 2

I wanna see a sci-fi series
Instead for the third time I saw an episode that takes plaece in a almost contemporary Los Angeles: good for the budget probably, but tedious.

Picard had a complete substitution of his body with a synthetic one at last episode of first season, but:
  • a 2024 hospital is judged better to heal him;
  • a 2024 doctor didn't recognize the artificial nature of it.

It appears absurd to my eyes.

Good actors, but bad plot.

Star Trek: Picard: Watcher
(2022)
Episode 4, Season 2

Glue episode
This is an empty episode, rich of words only, than say the same concepts: wrong immigration policy, human kind is wasting his planet.

That's right, useful but absolutely boring.

Funny the part with Seven and Jery, good couple of players without anything of interesting to do.

Try something better to add a contracted tenth episode, don't waste viewers time pls.

Star Trek: Voyager: Year of Hell
(1997)
Episode 8, Season 4

Nice try
In this season some aspects of characters have been revised, and I can't adapt to them: Chakote is become the doormat of the captain Geneway, and Tom Paris is one of worst nurses has ever seen.

Too many romantic ties between crew.
