Gravesend
(2020)

Not Authentic....
As a Sicilian American, born in Queens to a Brooklyn father, I find four elements missing in this series:

1. Guys in the life do not disrespect the Catholic church. Benny constantly talks in the church, out loud - cursing. Virginia says she needs to go back to church and they show her taking communion before confession. She's not eligible while not in a state of grace. And of course, they have a gun fight in the church. WTF?

2. They overuse f bombs, and more. Guys in the life generally don't drop f bombs, at least while they are dating, saving rough language after a few years of marriage.

3. Gangsters have a great sense of humor. They laugh a lot. These acting rejects and reject of a script writer have these guys scowling and constantly angry. Trust me, there are high and lows but mafiosos have a blast most of the time. Yep, they can get angry but usually things go nicely.

4. Brooklyn accent....omg, talk about overboard, laying it on way too thick - even the actors/actresses who are from the city.

My pet peeve was DeMeo's nose was crazy long. It's hard not to focus on it, and maybe he could get a minor surgery. He really looked the part when he disguised himself as a hasidic Jewish guy, if ya catch my drift.

If you are from Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa, etc, you will like the series because if you haven't had contact with these type of people you will think this is authentic.

One Step Ahead

Worst Acting Ever
I have rarely laughed so hard watching poor acting, but every single actor was devoid of any passion or any emotion. You will rarely be treated to a complete crew of actors who recite their lines with less passion than a 80 year old man reading a grocery shopping list.

I encourage people to watch this movie which may have been made on a whim while their kids were doing a sleepover at their grandparents. Nothing else can describe such a deficient effort!

The best acting by far is performed by a drunk at a bar about 1/3 of the way in. His onscreen time makes his appearance basically a cameo. Whomever this actor is, he should be giving lessons to the others since he is the only believable character.

Every single other actor couldn't sell a salmon to a starving grizzly bear.

Wow. This movie is as bad as Holy Moses with Dudley Moore, Rubber, any Tromaville movie, or Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.

I can't stop laughing.

Righteous Kill

Very Good Movie, Excellent Twist
I recommend this movie. Engaging and more substance than many movies we see from Pacino and DeNiro these days. Well - written produced and directed.

One thing bothered me. There is a momentary allusion to a pedophile priest. This has nothing to do with furthering the plot. Now, I'm trying not to be sensitive, but with a majority of Jewish directors and producers, this seems like an attack on Catholicism. They never seem to use a Rabbi instead, but have no issue denigrating Catholics. Either way, this segue adds nothing. Yes, no denying there have been cover ups in the Catholic church, but statistics don't support these problems as being specific to only one religion. There are also widespread issues within the Jewish faith - and while 2 wrongs don't make anything less forgivable, it's disappointing to see this included since the plot was strong and not assisted by this inclusion.

Very disappointing, but blocking this out - it's a good movie.

Arctic Void

Absolutely No Ending
Often, an inability to create a decent, plausible ending is the root of the travesty we experience as the credits roll at the end of this film.

The greatest achievement is that while the plot never fully develops, it is just engaging enough to prevent the viewer from throwing a rock at their own telly.

However, as the film ends almost as abruptly as a freight train crushing a semi-truck at a railroad crossing, you may possibly scream at the TV "We wuz robbed!!!" Nothing is resolved, explained, or closed.

The actors were believable, but the plot unfolded slowly and never truly engaged more than passing curiosity.

Curiosity is what makes films great, but in this case the curiosity was mild at its best.

I do not recommend this movie and I feel I deserve my 90 minutes of my life returned to me.

I so, so regret not turning this snoozer off. It had potential but wound up with wasted dialogue, wasted opening credits, time killing sequences, and finally: a complete waste of my time!

The Blackwell Ghost
(2017)

This is Fiction - Not a Real Documentary!
Total fraud in that it's categorized under documentaries but is just a fiction film with actors.

I was suspicious and began to internet surf to find more info. I was annoyed to see this one could stand next to the alleged doc about mermaids presented as fact a few years back.

Total scam proving anyone would do or say anything to make a few bucks - and some greddy people are willing to pay.

I advise watching true ghost documentaries where you can at debate if those movies have any credibility - this one does not!

PS These reviews have to be faked - probably friends and relatives of the actors!

Please Give Me Back the 20 Minutes of My Life....
..... I wasted watching this awful short film.

Terrible. There is no deeper meaning, there is no discussion. I suspect the director and writer had a mental block.

Do not waste your time with this - there is no ending. No learning taking place.

I am a fool for watching it until the end. No one with a brain could sit through this with any hopeful, optimistic anticipation.

Why do people make films like this? Who would fund awful films like this?

A high school or younger child could make a better film. If I made this film, I would be concerned I may never work in the industry ever again. I pray for the souls of the people who made this wreck of a film and pray harder for fools who watched it, like me.

I Hate the Man in My Basement
(2020)

Weird Character Development
All of the female characters must have been selected for their weird and overly excessive eye movements. Much of the movie is a statement on how people interact on first dates/new relationships when in their 30's.

The director must believe it's cute to grab a boob on a first date, or joke about innuendos related to underage kids - though that humor doesn't entirely rule the movie. I assume he used to vehicle to enhance the theme of awkwardness in being back on the dating circuit. Claude's 40 yr old pal acts like a junior high football player with unchecked hormones. Jokes about masturbation are prevalent and inappropriate to the plot. Humans do not interact like these characters - it reeked of absurd scripting. The plot had potential and some positive moments. I think the movie would only need about 35-45 minutes to keep viewers more engaged and the story moving. The best part of the film was the dialogue between Claude and his girl about 75% through the film. Best actor goes to the detective - he was most believable.

Episode 1, Added politics having nothing to do with plot...
I'm trying to get away from politics. A comment is made a few moments in bashing Trump as a traitor who filed to Russia.

WTF did that have to do with the plot? Guess it didn't age well considering what's going on right now.

Hollywood is so Trump-fixated they once again prove they are incapable of quality programming.

Lots of pointless F-bombs from one of my favorite and beautiful actresses. Very disappointed.

The Way Back
(2020)

Watch if you want to be depressed...
I was fooled by the title thinking there would be triumph over adversity. Affleck plays a guy who has had tragedy in his life and is unable to cope. Unlike Hoosiers, this movie maker gives no indication he is knowledgeable about basketball or the journeys of young men with a respected leader. Affleck is a hateable coach, and it is unconvincing that any player would respond to him. During 97%of the movie, I'm hoping for a hint there is some value to this "journey". Spoiler alert-------------it is not until the very end of the movie do we see Affleck is going to seek help for his alcoholism.

For me, this is 2 wasted hours during a pandemic era of oppression and despair. While I'm looking for something more uplifting, I would appreciate realism instead of such darkness. What also may have bothered me initially was the first scenes with the team he was coaching. Affleck has zero basketball acumen and is marginally believable as a coach. Affleck's greatest talent is as a businessman knowing this movie would compensate him well.

The undercard story of losing a child to cancer is a real kick in the teeth to a viewer. This type of element is such a cheap way to pull at someone's heartstrings - it's almost offensive it was weaponized this way. We knew he lost his son, but adding his friend's son to the grim cancer theme was piling on, just in case you were not sad enough. And of course, he was not only weak during these moments, he was out right cowardly - not fun to watch. There are better movies. Congrats to Ben for improving his bank account.

The Many Saints of Newark
(2021)

Heavily Influenced by BLM Riots of 2020 and Wokeness
The movie focused on black gangsters of Newark as much, if not slightly more than the Italians. The plot seems to be running in place - it's beyond disappointing for true Sopranos fans.

Why would they do this? Political pressure? The language / slang from the Italians was nonexistent. In the NY/NJ area you'd think there'd be no shortage of true NY/NJ Italians to be cast as characters. Half of the actors are Jewish or black. Gandolfinis kid is a decent actor - but it's not his fault this confused movie was a weak story.

What were you guys thinking when you made this movie? Not worth $3.99, sorry.

The Deep Rig
(2021)

Every American Should and Make Their Own Opinion
Fascinating documentary. The anomalies presented were new to me. There are inarguable facts presented that after searching the internet, I can't find them to be debunked beyond the "deep analysis" like they are conspiracy theories, right wing loons, no basis in fact - nothing of substance.

Why are Democrats fighting so hard if there is nothing to this? Why doesn't Eric Coomer explain his Antifa association? There's further proof that Dominion execs were wrong and are accused of lying about their machine's internet capabilities. Why do all MSM and big tech delete, cancel, and refute evidence and inquiry to the elections?

The 2020 election may not be a fraud, but fighting the audits is making public opinion grow in favor of more audits.

For the first commenter for liberals, if you want this to go away because you are confident there was no malfeasance - let the audits roll so you can win your point.

The fact that all libs are fighting this makes America believe something was wrong.

People are not as stupid as leftist condescending actors believe. The truth always comes out, and standing in the way of a credible search for truth is a statement in itself.

I implore all Americans to watch this and make up your own minds.
