Amityville Cop
(2021)

Excellent
The film is so much better then the trailer. Good acting, well edited and a nicely crafted storyline. Nicole D'Angelo and Jason Toler were my favorites. Indie horror films are usually bad but this one isn't.

Knives Out
(2019)

10 stars
'The film follows a family gathering gone awry, after the family patriarch's death leads a master detective to investigate.' Entertaining, amusing and fast paced. An excellent plot with a fantastic cast. Daniel Craig is on top form here as detective Benoit Blanc and the plot keeps the audience guessing with its constant twists and turns.

Putting a modern spin on the classic 'whodunnit' Agatha Christie type plot is nothing new, but Knives Out manages to pull it off with incredible ease. Craig's performance nicely caught the balance between David Suchet's Hercule Poirot and Peter Falk's Lieutenant Colombo. Top marks all round, very pleasant watching.

The Big Short
(2015)

The truth
Great film about just how easy it was for US housing market to be manipulated by greedy banks & illegal behaviour - worrying that Australia could follow blindly along & have such a terrible economic outcome here too just like we follow everything else US does! Steve Carrell & Christian Bale's acting was superb. Notable mention for Brad Pitt - loved the hair!

Hell Fest
(2018)

Not bad
Not bad, enjoyed plenty of it! The horror theme park though fictional still feels very real as if an actual Halloween Horror Nights type of vibe in Universal! The scares seemed to be about just right, not too corny, neither over the top either, and jumpscares are balanced pretty well to the point to where it doesn't feel overdone, know right when it's coming, expect it, and get bored to death by cheesiness. Go check this film out for a good Halloween scare.

A Dark Foe
(2020)

Unsettling serial killer thriller
Man, this film is a hidden gem. I wish I had seen it in a movie theater. The story is just awesome. Unsettling serial killer police thriller that for two hours gets under your skin (literally) until it gives you the final, unexpected blow at the end.

Slender Man
(2018)

A true horror movie
I personally love this movie, really fun to watch. As a true horror movie though it definitely has flaws. The story and idea behind it is really good and I think they could've really taken it somewhere. However, there are scenes that I found straight up cheesy and silly, and the suspense was mostly boring. Don't get me wrong though I love this movie to watch for fun; I think Slenderman is really cool and they did a fair bit of showing him which I love. This movie just tried and failed at what it set out to be, but on the flip side it accomplishes being a cool tense thriller that's a tad scary at times. I highly recommend this movie; just don't go into it, expecting to scared out of your skin.

Unsane
(2018)

Impressive
This movie keeps you guessing but also delivers a satisfying ending. The audience begins to question reality along with the main character which makes for an adrenaline pumping thrill ride of a movie. Is she really crazy? Is it the drugs she's being forced to take? Who is telling the truth? Good questions that lead to a great resolution. Would highly recommend.
