MacGyver
(2016)

Have potential to become "so bad it's fun" series
You know those "so bad it's good" movies, that give you guilty pleasure by watching it and you have to hide it from your friends because it's embarrassing? This new and modern MacGyver show can become one too.

To enjoy this show, one of the main tips is to not use your brain. Don't think too much. Don't question the logic, don't fact check the DIY aspects, don't question the plot hole. Don't question why MacGyver can always find all tools he needs. This show is pretty much dumb. Science themed TV show which is dumb. Ironic, right?

This show is B-class at best and should be treated as such. The main similarities between this new version and the original one are the main idea and the characters names. So if you watch this series hoping for the modern version of the original series you love so much, you will be very very disappointed.

This show mainly targets the younger generation, which is kinda sad and insulting to be honest. Insulting because they think they can just create such dumb shows to attract younger audiences. Sad because many people will get the "false" version of MacGyver.

I have watched the show till ep 20 and I enjoy it so far as my guilty pleasure and pure dumb entertainment (sometimes watching too many quality shows can be tiring too you know). The acting and the stories are getting better in later episodes with some twists and character changes, though it's kinda ridiculous. For that, I gave this show 5/10 stars (I want to give it 4,5 if I can) because it's crap but still enjoyable.

This modern MacGyver has potential to become "so bad it's fun" show rather than just "below mediocre" like now. Also, the producers should be honest and admit that this show is not the remake of the original and should not be treated like one. That way, people won't have high expectation and will treat this show as it supposed to be, a dumb, just for your entertainment one.

The Adventures of Sinbad
(1996)

Good classic series
This series was one of three adventure series that I watched when I was a child, besides Xena and Hercules. The first season was lighter. I was fallen for this series, as soon as I had watched the first episode. The casts were talented, except Maeve, who has so-so acting skill. However, Sinbad and her have kind of dynamic and interesting relationship. I agree that they had great chemistry, even they only kissed once and the rest was just "eyes communication".

The second season, just like the first season, also has great potential. I'm not Maeve fan, so I still followed this season. However, unfortunately, I lost the feeling that I had gotten in first season. Bryn's acting skill was much better than Maeve, but Sinbad and her didn't have such a chemistry as the previous cast. This season was darker but it was not interesting anymore. This season, obviously, had a huge hole in the storyline, if you try to connect its story with the end of the first season. Maeve's departure was such a big loss for this series. Most of my favorite quotes ever from this series came from the first season. Personally, I prefer the first season and based from the series rating, I believe most audiences agree with me.

Of course, this series has some weakness. The special effect, the setting, and some of the plot stories were ridiculous and just kept repeating. Sinbad kissed almost all of the females cast so it kinda boring. But then, I wouldn't expect more from this series in 1996. I won't compare it with 'high-quality story or expensive special effect' series, but this series still good to watch. Anyway, the Maeve theme song (which was played in most of Sinbad-Maeve scenes) was so memorable, and I still remember it until now.
